Physical Therapy Assistant
Concordia Visiting Nurses is seeking multiple Part-time or Full-time Physical Therapy Assistants to serve our patients living in the South Hills service area.
Areas include:
- Downtown Pittsburgh/Mt. Washington/Greentree
- Bridgeville/Upper St. Clair/Mt. Lebanon/Castle Shannon
POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Physical Therapy Assistant [PTA] is a professional qualified to provide physical therapy treatment under the supervision of a Registered and Licensed Physical Therapist (LPT) to patients in the home as prescribed by the attending physician.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association
Certified as an physical therapy assistant with an indirect license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Has performed the minimum of 2,000 hours of physical-therapy related acts which have been signed off by a supervising LPT.
The individual must have worked three of the five previous five years in therapy with notarization of application and copy of their resume.
Reliable, independent means of transportation to make home visits. Drivers must have a valid driver’s license and drive a car with insurance limits as established in personnel policies
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Clinical Skills
A. Makes home visits to patients in accordance with the physician’s plan of care
B. Implements the therapy program established by the LPT, providing services to prevent disability, relieve pain, restoring function and independence to achieve the patient’s full potential following disease or injury.
C. Assists in teaching patients and in planning discharge from physical therapy services
Documentation
A. Completes required documentation for ongoing service on the day of the visit.
B. Documentation is reviewed by the LPT to maintain compliance with the plan of care.
Communication
A. Confers with supervising physical therapist, at least, every month, more often as patient needs dictate
B.Calls the Clinical Supervisor with any immediate patient clinical needs
C. Assists with coordinating a licensed physical therapy supervisory visit once every 7th visit or once every 14 calendar days, whichever comes first.
D. Maintains confidentiality of client information
E. Submits a schedule of patients as requested.
F. Reports patient responses to treatment, changes in care needs, progress towards goals to the supervising LPT.

B. Adheres to all policies and maintains a professional standard of conduct, projecting a positive image of the agency
C. Continually strives to improve care by broadening and deepening knowledge through formal education, attendance at workshops, conferences, active participation in professional and related organizations and individual study and reading
D. Adheres to all policies set forth in the Physical Therapy Assistant Practice Act and relevant Practice Standards to maintain safe clinical practice

Professional Development
A. Attends a minimum of one staff meeting/in-service per year
