GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, performs a variety of manual tasks involved in the operation of the parking area at the Abilene Regional Airport.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Parking Lot Attendant I – This position exercises no supervision.
Parking Lot Attendant II – This position may exercise limited supervision over the Parking Lot Attendant I.
IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provide professional and friendly customer service in all interactions with the public to include giving customers directions, information, and handling complaints and accidents.
Collect parking fees from customers exiting the Airport parking lot.
Balance cash receipts at the end of the shift. Verify cash draws at the start and end of each shift worked.
Responsible for monitoring the parking lot and informing management of any unusual situations or incidents.
Gather and return luggage carts to terminal.
Pick up and dispose of trash around the parking lot.
Spray herbicide on weeds in designated areas of the parking lot.
Count the number of cars parked in the parking lot.
General housekeeping/cleaning inside and outside of the Parking Lot Attendant Booth, including restrooms, floors, glass and work surfaces.
Operate City vehicle as necessary to accomplish previously listed duties.
Parking Lot Attendant II
Assist Parking Attendant I with cash drawer accountability.
Provide on-the-job training to new employees on parking lot operations and revenue collection.
Manage the shift schedule and timecards for other parking attendants.
OTHER JOB-RELATED DUTIES
Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Methods and practices for monetary transactions to be used in the operation of a paid parking lot system to successfully balance cash receipts at the end of each shift.
Skill to:
Perform basic arithmetic as well as count and calculate change.
Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing to ensure successful job performance.
Ability to:
Count and calculate parking fees.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, both internally and externally.

Experience and Training Guidelines:
For positions with more than one level, all listed requirements at the lower levels are required at the higher levels. Any combination equivalent to experience and training to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying. Knowledge, skills, and abilities may be obtained through:
Parking Lot Attendant I
Experience:
This is an entry-level position. No previous experience is required.
Education/Training:
Basic arithmetic, collecting money, reading, and writing at a necessary level for successful job performance is required.
Formal or informal education/training is preferred.
License or Certificate:
A valid, current Texas driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within ninety (90) days of employment, or a military waiver is required.
Parking Lot Attendant II
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in parking operations and/or revenue collection and accountability using cash register systems is preferred.
Education/Training:
Basic arithmetic, collecting money, reading, and writing at a necessary level for successful job performance is required.
Formal or informal education/training is preferred.
License or Certificate:
A valid, current Texas driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within ninety (90) days of employment, or a military waiver is required.
Special Requirements
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to work outdoors and to withstand the exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures and elements.
Ability to work weekends and evening hours.
Considered Essential Personnel in the event of City Offices closure and reports to work as assigned by the Director.
