Job Summary

Conducts analytical studies on products or processes to improve quality and cost. Develops and implements quality processes related to new product introduction. Accomplish process improvement by working with sales, manufacturing and engineering. Quality Assurance tools such as APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC., and Lean tools are used to drive improvements. Performs other duties as required. .

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Under minimum supervision, conducts analysis or tests of routine through complex degree pertaining to the development of new designs and provides recommendations accordingly.
  • Review and analyze customer satisfaction issues related to Complaints, RMA’s, and Corrective Actions to eliminate causes.
  •  Facilitates immediate response to internal/external customer complaints and other related issues.
  • Confers and works with plant departments, quality, engineering, and production to prepare process design modifications including identifying problem areas and assisting in providing resolutions.
  • Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype processes, machines or tools while working with production and engineering.
  • Directs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Writes new process instructions, operating procedures and training documents, as assigned.
  • Maintain and update internal processes and documentation as required
  • Applies Quality Assurance techniques and tools as needed. These include Process Flow, Control Plans, SPC, and FMEA.
  • Applies continuous improvement techniques. These include but are not limited to computer training, reviewing and updating work instructions, problem solving and communication techniques
  • Suggests, collaborates and implements/improves on effective work methods, machinery, documentation, materials, safety and team projects that could improve safety, products, profits, cost or scrap.
  • Prepares recommendations to modify methods or processes, relative to improved productivity and quality.

 

Additional Responsibilities

 

  • Communicates on a regular basis with supervisor/s and co-workers regarding the production, procedures, and issues regarding the department.  Assists in the training and acclimatization of new employees. Provides technical guidance and/or direction to co-workers.
  • Follows company policies and procedures. Performs all work at or above a satisfactory level and in a safety conscious manner.
  • Maintain Internal Audit system
  • Participate in customer Audits when required

  • Analysis, plans and suggested changes are thorough, accurate, clear, timely and beneficial.
  • Communication is ongoing, concise, and understandable.
  • Design realistic work methods, procedures and time tables for achieving project goals. Set and meet specific goals and priorities for completing assignments. Monitor progress toward achieving goals and make modifications if needed.
  • Look for ways to streamline and automate processing procedures, testing, etc.

 

 

Essential Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Demonstrated competency in use and application of Quality System tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects within required timeframes; demonstrated capability to build individual talent (continuing self-development).
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to interact with customers, cross functional team members, and outside suppliers.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles, standards and procedures in the execution of projects and programs to advance process innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish tasks independently, while functioning in a team environment, to complete projects within required timeframe and budget.
  • Skilled at attacking problems and projects with drive and energy with an eye on quality, cost, and customer service.

 

Essential Experience and Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in the Engineering, Electronic, Electro-mechanical or Mechanical disciplines, or equivalent. Training in Quality Systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on manufacturing process experience. An in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of continuous process improvement techniques, specification interpretation, quality assurance terminology, quality control methods and objectives, ISO/AS requirements. Able to interpret and produce documentation including but not limited to computer-generated drawings reports documentation and the like.
  • Experience with Quality System tools, such as SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, and Lean Tools..
  • Solid writing and math skills.
  • Ability to perform or closely direct new processes, record/analyze data, make recommendations as to process improvements and write reports in conjunction with Engineers and Quality Personnel.
  • Proficient use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Must be energetic, a self-starter, quick thinker and a team player.

 

Working Conditions

 

Working conditions are normal for manufacturing environment. Work may require occasional weekend and evening work and some travel.
