Job Summary:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operation workers in the Cable Tech Department. Provide leadership and assistance as needed to resolve personnel, equipment, customer order and other issues.
Essential Functions:
- Guarantee the on-time delivery of the finished cable assembly products which meet all required standards and specifications of planned production.
- Direct and coordinate activities of hourly employees
- Understand, comply, and enforce OSHA, Safety and PPE requirements
- Ensure that all employees know and adhere to safety requirements for all areas, follow standardized work instructions and perform process checks/inspections
- Monitor and assess employee performance and appraisals
- Assist in interview process for new employees
- Train and counsel production employees
- Document employee issues and utilize progressive corrective action when warranted
- Confer with management and hourly workers to resolve worker issues
- Read work orders, schedules, and other records / reports to determine production requirements
- Assign employees to equipment to maximize production
- Identify and correct machine malfunction and/or notify maintenance of major issues
- Identify, contain, and respond to quality issues via appropriate procedures
- Identify and locate materials, direct/deliver to production areas as needed
- Provide daily updates to production schedule and/or customer service
- Provide smooth transfer of operations from shift to shift
- Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects with other departments
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Flexibility to accommodate work schedule as needed based on business conditions
- Direct working knowledge of operations and warehouse management (preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
- Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization
- Excellent computer skills including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Experience with MRP/ERP and MS D365 system preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude, experience with basic manufacturing equipment
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in management/technology is preferred; or three to five years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Working Conditions:
- Works in a manufacturing environment (plant/office) focused on cleanliness and safety in accordance with OSHA and company standards. Works in a climate where temperatures vary.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. Walk/stand on concrete floor. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the shift.
