Senior Underwriting Risk Analyst
Location: Hybrid Work Model- Van Wert, OH, Dublin, OH, Alpharetta, GA, Waltham, MA, Irving, TX
Joining the Risk and Capital Management team as a Senior Risk Underwriting Analyst means being part of a team that is focused on Central’s capital exposure and issues facing a changing landscape. This role is crucial in helping problem solve, and driving insights around natural catastrophe and risk accumulation. A Senior Risk Underwriting analyst will be a person who is curious and seeks to understand, as well as enjoys applying their skill set to property & casualty insurance.

How You’ll Make an Impact
- Collaborate with business units to implement strategic catastrophe management.
- Leverage capital model to support the integration of a capital budget to manage our spread of risk.
- Provide analyses, monitoring, and testing of established and new key metrics for the underwriting portfolio, including the spread of risk and exposure concentration, contributing directly to strategic Financial Risk Management.
- Provide exposure-at-risk analyses in catastrophe events.
- Perform and review data audits for catastrophe modeling and reinsurance data.
- Effectively work with internal resources and reinsurance intermediary to leverage tools and ensure quality.
- Support the optimization of our reinsurance program by analyzing reinsurance utilization and supporting the Reinsurance software platform.
- Develop and conduct analyses for support of operational decision-making.
- Collaborate with Financial Analysts to translate operational analyses into projected financial outcomes.
- Independently communicate results and strategic recommendations.
- Provide competitive market intelligence and industry analyses regularly.
- Research and communicate trends that may affect the organization.
- Support the capital management framework, including solvency assessments, stress testing, and capital budgeting for optimal portfolio growth.
- Measure, monitor and analyze our risk position across underwriting and investment components.
- Support and mentor others within the Risk and Capital Management group.
- Establishes operational processes and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Participate in project work, occasionally leading complex projects and project teams.
- Complete regular peer reviews to ensure quality of work products.
What You’ll Bring
- Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Actuarial Science, Insurance & Risk Management or related field and 2 years of experience in risk analysis
- Or Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Actuarial Science, Insurance & Risk Management or related field and 4 years of experience in risk analysis
- Or 6 years of experience in risk analysis
Preferred
- P&C Industry experience, a background in Underwriting, Actuarial or Analytics preferred.
- Comprehension of reinsurance, capital modeling, stress testing, and capital allocation & structure.
- Experience with data manipulation, modeling, analysis and visualization, using technologies such as: SQL, R, SAS, PowerBi/Tableau, etc.
- Accurately anticipate future consequences and trends
- Effectively frame a problem and translate qualitative impacts to quantitative
- Analysis of scenarios and potential outcomes, including likelihoods
- Excellent analytical aptitude; judge the reasonability of analysis and data
- CPCU, ARe, or ARM Designation
- Proficiency in key risk tools
