We are seeking a Sr. Project Engineer I (Sr PEI) to join Cascade Energy!  The Sr.PE I will engage with our  clients at a high level to assess their operations, identify opportunities, and provide recommendations to maximize energy efficiency and performance in industrial systems.  The Sr. PE I takes the lead to consult, gather data, create optimization models of industrial systems and write feasibility reports for energy efficiency projects, while leading overall management of projects.  The Sr. PE I provides mentorship and contributes to peer support and quality control review.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Leading, managing, and directing accountability on assigned projects
• Calculating energy savings for various system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, and/or generally accepted  methodologies
• Engaging with clients at their industrial locations to gain a deep understanding of their equipment and operations and identifying opportunities for energy efficiency
• Fostering and growing client relationships and identifying opportunities for generating significant new work from new and existing clients
• Present complex technical issues with a diverse audience in a way that facilitates understanding and consensus
• Composing energy efficiency project reports based on analyses and observations
• Documenting performance through data collection from customer sources or via installed data logging equipment
• Maintaining expert knowledge of utility programs and their compliance requirements
• Provide peer mentorship through technical discussions and work review

This is a full-time, exempt position to be located in the Salt Lake City UT area. The team is usually in-office 1 day per week.  There will be site visits and an occasional overnight site visit.

Applicants for this role are required to have:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field of study
• 5 - 8 yrs of engineering experience
• Expert technical knowledge of refrigeration, compressed air systems, steam systems, custom computer modeling of systems, electrical distribution system design, industrial control and data-logging of system results

A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:

• Experience with industrial facilities and energy efficiency measures is highly preferred
• Experience from Industrial Assessment Centers is a plus
• Familiarity or experience in Python and data analysis

As our work in other areas continues to grow, we would be thrilled if you have any of these additional skillsets:

• Decarbonization audit/planning work
• Gas efficiency experience or experience working with industrial steam boilers
• Energy efficiency project management such as corporate or plant energy management background.

The salary range for this position in Salt Lake City, Utah is $96,800 - $121,000.  However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
