The Postal Clerk assists the Postal Services Production Supervisor in all aspects of the post office environment including retail sales, excellent customer service, accurate sorting and distribution of mail and packages, record keeping, automation mail processes, loading dock duties, and all other functions necessary to move mail in and out of the facility. The position also backs up the delivery driver position for campus mail distribution. Hours for this position will be 9 am to 3 pm daily from August 1 through May 1.  This is a non-exempt part-time (1080 annual hours), position. 

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Strong computer skills. Enjoys using software and technology to accomplish tasks. Ability to learn new software.
  • Working knowledge of using Microsoft Word and Excel and data merging processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Self-starter who can make decisions within the university and postal service guidelines with minimal supervision
  • Must be very detail-oriented with the ability to quickly distribute mail and packages in appropriate receptacles or in preparation for the delivery route
  • Enjoys working in a flexible environment with frequent interruptions and regular adjustments to daily tasks
  • Postal regulation knowledge regarding mail classifications, mailability of materials,  is a plus.
