Cedarville University is seeking a Counselor who is responsible for faith-based individual and group counseling, resource and referral services, and assigned programs. This is a full time (1560 annual hours), non-exempt position that reports to the Director of Counseling Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides general counseling services, both individual and group for students from a biblical worldview.
- Assists students in overcoming spiritual, emotional, situational, or other personal impediments to college success.
- Serves as a resource and referral person to faculty, staff, and alumni.
- Plans and executes appropriate student development workshops or seminars.
- Engages in professional development workshops or groups.
- Intercedes in crisis situations and/or assists counselors, deans, and residence hall staff in such situations.
- Maintains clinical records for clients seen.
- All other duties assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in answering phone calls.
- Assist in greeting students coming into the counseling office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possesses at least a master’s degree in counseling or related field.
- Possesses Ohio licensure (e.g. LPC or LSW) or is willing to complete licensure requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Possesses professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain scheduled hours.
REQUIRED MENTAL/PHYSICAL ABILITIES
- Mental requirements:
- Must be able to remain calm in a crisis situation.
- Physical requirements:
- Is able to hear and speak clearly.
- Work is performed in an office environment, which includes most hours sitting.
