Cedarville University and the Department of Communication in the Plaster School of Business (PSB) invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Communication. This is a tenure-track eligible position. Primary teaching responsibilities include a focus on audio courses such as Audio Production, Sound Design, Digital Audio Post, Audio for Video and Film, and Audio practicums.
The successful candidate will possess expertise in the following areas: Pro-Tools software, tracking, mixing, editing, mastering, studio hardware, mics, control surfaces and plugins. Production experience and experience training others in audio technology is beneficial.
The position requires twenty-four semester credit hours of teaching responsibility, or the equivalent, each academic year of two semesters. The ideal candidate will maintain academic credentials and discipline-specific research/methodology/pedagogy, a working knowledge of biblical texts and the appropriate discipline-specific integration, provide academic advice and counsel to students within the academic discipline, and participate in committees and additional professional activities. The faculty member may also assist Academic leadership with special assignments as needed.
This position is subject to the University's verification of credentials along with other information required by law and Cedarville University policies, including the successful completion of a background check. Position Requirements:
- Terminal degree in discipline preferred. Completion of or progress toward an MA degree, or no less than 15 years of tested experience will be considered.
- Documented successful teaching experience, preferably at the college/university level.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Expertise in Pro Tools. Adobe Audition experience is beneficial.
- Advanced understanding of audio production equipment, microphones, monitors, field and recording equipment.
- Understanding and expertise in sound design, signal flow, and storytelling through audio media.
- Understanding of current professional media codecs and platforms.
- Additional media production experience is a plus.
