Calibration Technician

JOB SUMMARY
Calibrates and maintains M&TE (Measurement and Test Equipment) and verifies its conformance to requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains the calibration system for all M&TE.
- Monitors and maintains the calibration and maintenance schedule to ensure that all quality related equipment is accurate.
- Maintains and calibrates all types of M&TE regardless of complexity. Ensures that appropriate documentation follows and/or is affixed to M&TE upon completion of calibration and maintenance.
- Records calibration results and completes reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Reports nonconforming equipment to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintains calibration history and documentation.
- Arranges for outside calibration where necessary and ensures that instruments are properly packaged, shipped, tracked, expedited, received, and delivered back to appropriate parties. Ensures that all calibration methods are communicated to supplier when necessary.
- Audits workstations to assure calibrated devices are being used.
- Creates calibration instructions and procedures as required.
- Assist in developing measurement techniques for inspection or experiments.
- Maintains a clean and orderly calibration laboratory. Properly disposed of waste according to safety and environmental policies.
SUPERVISION
Works independently under minimum supervision. This role provides technical guidance, training and serves as mentor to less experienced quality and production personal.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Must have a clear understanding of basic math, geometry and trigonometry skills with the ability to understand and calculate angles, diameter, circumference and radius. Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
ASQ certifications preferred: Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt, Quality Technician or Inspector, and or Calibration Technician
10-15 years quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to comprehend engineering blueprints and complex geometric tolerancing. Must quality, statistical process control and safety procedures for assigned area.
Familiarity with ISO, industry and governmental standards/ specifications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Spends 100% of time in shop. May be exposed to possible shop hazards including heavy machinery, fumes, dust, heat and high pressure and temperatures.
