The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless seeks a Resident Assistant to foster a culture of excellent customer service and assisting in the safety and security of the residents, staff, and property of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless transitional housing locations. This position is also responsible for the facility-oriented duties such as including but not limited: laundry, laying out breakfast for residents, auditing files, washing dishes, data entry. These roles are located at various Transitional Housing Department sites across the Denver Metro area. This position is located at 3636 W. Colfax Ave., Denver, Colorado 80204 and reports to the Program Manager.

Essential Job Functions

1.         Provides excellent, trauma-informed customer service to residents, colleagues, and external partners.

2.         Makes hourly building perimeter inspections of site to ensure a secure and safe environment;

3.         Completes shift checklists on every shift;

4.         Be quickly available in case of emergencies;

5.         Remains onsite and awake through all shifts;

6.         Performs laundry duty (washing and drying of linens) as required;

7.         Washes any dishes/pots/pans/trays leftover from dinner;

8.         Lays out breakfast for residents and cleans kitchen each morning;

9.         Reviews and monitors resident files to ensure all documentation is present, alerts Program Manager of any deficiencies, and maintains the organization of the closed files;

10.      Communicates effectively with other Beacon staff through multiple means, including recording important information in the Daily Log at each shift;

11.      Attends all required staff meetings;

12.      Helps maintain a clean and safe environment for residents and staff by performing daily facility care, such as shoveling snow, cleaning spills or messes as appropriate (this may include the cleaning and care of biological waste in the event a resident is ill or injured), etc.;

13.      Assists in special projects as assigned by the program manager;

14.      Assists residents in accessing resources as needed;

15.      Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Summary

1.       Experience working with marginalized populations.

2.       Experience in homeless services and/or behavioral health services preferred.

3.       CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen safety training preferred.

4.       Security training or experience preferred.

5.       High School Diploma/GED.
