GENERAL SUMMARY

The AVP, SBA Loan Portfolio Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of SBA loans, ensuring compliance with SBA regulations, and supporting the bank’s SBA lending objectives. This role requires a strong understanding of SBA programs, including the SBA 7(a), 504, and PPP loan programs, and the ability to operate SBA systems such as SBA CAFS (Capital Access Financial System) and the PPP Forgiveness Platform. The AVP, SBA Loan Portfolio Officer will have  a key role in monitoring loan performance, preparing required reports, and supporting customers throughout the loan servicing and forgiveness processes.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage and monitor a portfolio of SBA loans, ensuring timely and accurate servicing, reporting, and documentation.
  • Utilize SBA systems such as SBA CAFS, E-Tran, and the PPP Forgiveness Platform to manage and update loan information, submit requests, and complete necessary reporting.
  • Perform all necessary loan servicing actions, including deferments, modifications, and adjustments in compliance with SBA guidelines.
  • Ensure all portfolio management activities comply with SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the bank’s internal policies. Maintain accurate and organized loan files.
  • Serve as a point of contact for SBA loan clients, answering questions and providing guidance on loan servicing, forgiveness applications, and compliance requirements.
  • Identify and report potential risks within the portfolio and work with the SBA team to develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and submit regular portfolio performance reports and documentation required by the SBA, senior management, and regulatory bodies.
  • Support the PPP forgiveness application process by assisting customers with required documentation, submitting forgiveness requests through the PPP Forgiveness Platform, and following up on application status.
  • Work closely with the SBA underwriting, credit, and servicing teams to ensure a smooth process from loan origination to servicing and forgiveness.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in SBA loan servicing, portfolio management, or a related role working in a bank or financial institution with an SBA portfolio.
    • Proficiency in SBA systems, including SBA CAFS, E-Tran, and PPP Forgiveness Platform.
    • Strong knowledge of SBA loan programs, including SBA 7(a), 504, and PPP.
    • Knowledge of SBA SOP guidelines and SBA compliance requirements.        
    • Familiarity with loan servicing software and other banking platforms.
  • Skills/Ability: Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.  Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.  Proficiency in both English and Chinese (Mandarin or Chinese) preferred. 

 

OTHER DETAILS


$70K – $90K / year 
Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
