GENERAL SUMMARY
Evaluate and approve, within authorized limits, proposed extension of credit to borrowers seeking financing for commercial real estate activities. Monitor Bank’s commercial real estate lending activities to assure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Working closely with Lending Teams including Team Managers and Portfolio Managers to review and evaluate proposed new and renewal extensions of credit for commercial real estate borrowers paying particular attention to the quality and analysis of the credit presented.
- Approve proposed extensions of credit within authorized loan limits.
- Develop, through a collaborative effort with account officers, alternative strategies to address unusually complex or difficult lending situations.
- Prepare transaction summaries for extensions of credit requiring approval by bank’s Credit Committee.
- Follow past due loans for ultimate repayment and assist in managing problem loan situations.
- Update monthly watch list report for assigned portfolio and ensure accurate risk ratings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: College degree in general business or finance preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience: 7 to 10 years commercial lending experience with at least 3-5 years in a credit approval function with a commercial bank preferred.
- Skills/Ability: In-depth knowledge of commercial real estate lending, with a focus on commercial construction and commercial mortgage finance. Broad knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards applicable to commercial real estate and residential mortgage products. Superior credit analysis skills. Ability to develop strategies to manage problem commercial real estate loans. Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment and on a collaborative basis. Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume work flow. Desire to work in a dynamic and challenging environment characterized by sometimes changing priorities and short term deadlines.
