Life Enrichment Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY
The Life Enrichment Assistant helps create a joyful and vibrant community by assisting in coordinating, planning and helping with the resident activity programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists in carrying out the assigned activity programs as identified in the monthly calendar and as instructed by the Activities Director, including making sure copies of the calendar are posted and available to each resident, his or her families, and friends.
- Provides one-to-one programming for residents who cannot participate in a group setting.
- Assists in decorating for the holidays with the help of residents and the volunteers and helps carryout special events.
- Coordinates with the activities director and other staff as necessary to assist residents to and from activities and events.
- Maintains equipment and supplies, organizes the activities storage areas in an orderly and clean manner.
- Assists in carrying out activities and events in the absence of the Activities Director.
- Assists with quarterly special events that includes residents, families, friends and the community at large.
- Works with community resources and contacts to enhance the quality of life for residents as instructed by Activities Director.
- Encourages family & staff involvement in activity programs and/or other events.
- Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings. Stays current on system assigned tasks and duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Having completed a state certified activities training program or having one or more years of direct programming experience with older adults is helpful.
- Valid driver’s license, and access to a private vehicle for business use may be required.
- Pass a Criminal Background and fingerprint heck.
- Maintains current food handlers card.
- Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
- Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.
- Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.
- Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- First Aid and CPR
- Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
- Ability to work independently (with minimum supervision)
