Manager, Friends (Membership & Annual Fund)

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Manager, Friends to join our dynamic team. This position plays a vital role in managing communication, event planning, fundraising, and membership efforts, ensuring our goals are met and our community stays engaged. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in development and/or membership experience, excellent interpersonal skills, and a passion for supporting the arts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communication & Copywriting: Draft copy for monthly renewal letters, member emails, stewardship materials (including postcards, e-mails, and brochures), solicitation letters, and website content. Collaborate on End of Year and End of Fiscal Year campaigns.
- Event Planning: Plan and execute all aspects of Friends events, including 10 open working rehearsals. This includes ticket printing, program submissions, guest confirmations, vendor coordination, and post-event follow-up. Manage logistics, event staffing, and thank you notes for participants.
- Customer Service: Handle inquiries, complaints, and requests in person and over the phone. Create posting and adjustment forms for donations received by phone.
- Data Management: Run lists and extractions in Tessitura. Work with the Associate Director to develop segmentation strategies.
- Review & Approval of Materials: Review all written and designed materials for the department. Collaborate with the Associate Director to approve all emails and print materials.
- Ticketing: Oversee Friends ticketing offers and incentives. Work with Development Services to fulfill ticket requests.
- Strategic Planning: Work with the Friends team to strategize on potential new revenue sources, campaigns, and marketing initiatives. Track departmental expenses and reconcile with monthly Finance ledgers.
Special Skills Required:
- BA/BS degree
- 3-5 years of development and/or membership experience
- Strong writing, interpersonal, and multitasking skills
- High attention to detail with flexibility to adapt to changing procedures
- Tessitura experience a plus
- Ability to work some weekends and evenings, particularly during performance season
Working Conditions:
- Some evening and weekend hours are required, particularly during performance season.
- The position will require occasional physical activity to assist with event setup and staffing.
