Position Overview:

We are seeking a Manager for the Future Music Project to lead and oversee programming logistics, ensuring successful implementation with internal and external stakeholders. Reporting to the program leadership, the Manager will recruit, hire, and supervise teaching artists, maintain relationships with stakeholders, and oversee event logistics in juvenile justice settings. They will manage data collection, support curriculum development, and handle budget management and contracting. The Manager will also contribute to strategic planning and program expansions. Qualifications include a commitment to diversity, excellent communication skills, experience in social justice and youth development, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

 

Responsibilities

As part of the implementation and development of Future Music Project, the Manager will:

  • Lead and oversee programming logistics with other Carnegie Hall staff and external partners for Future Music Project, including but not limited to:
    • Coordinate resources and the efforts of internal/external stakeholders towards successful program implementation.
    • Recruit, hire, onboard, and supervise a roster of 10+ teaching artists
    • Train, supervise, and support Program Assistants for Future Music Project (as necessary)
    • Maintain and cultivate relationship and communications with teaching artists and Administration for Children’s Services
    • Oversee programming and event logistics with other Carnegie Hall staff and external partners for programming in juvenile justice settings
    • Staff and/or observe programs and events
    • Oversee the collection and organization of FMP data.
    • Respond to reporting requests from Education Admin and Development teams.
  • Develop professional development plans for FMP teaching artists.
  • Support teaching artists in developing curriculum, activities, and lesson plans.
  • Supervise and provide support to Future Music Project Associate, including but not limited to:
    • Prioritizing and delegating tasks as well as providing direction in accomplishing projects as a team.
    • Ensuring Associate has the information required to fulfill their responsibilities.
    • Contributing to their ongoing professional development
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a youth development framework to be used by all SIP programs.
  • Manage contracting process from initiation through execution, including coordinating associated deliverables.
  • Assist with updating, maintaining, and reconciling Future Music Project budget, including processing invoices.
  • Participate in developing program expansions, including but not limited to career pathways, alumni programming, and special events.
  • Participate in strategic planning and program visioning for SIP as part of the program leadership for Future Music Project.
  • Special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Commitment to furthering the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the work.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to manage complex programs, collaborations and partnerships with community groups, government agencies, and arts organizations.
  • Experience and background in social justice, arts education, justice reinvestment and/or community and collective impact.
  • Experience in youth development and social justice curriculum frameworks
  • Experience as a teaching artist working with young people (ages 12 – 24) and/or mentoring teaching artists.
  • Understanding of various local community cultural interests and needs; knowledge of current NYC artists and organizations a plus
  • Familiarity with assessment and evaluation processes and ability to apply these strategies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Computer skills –Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.
