The Fab Lab Education Facilitator is responsible for safely and effectively facilitating maker education programming and activities at Kamin Science Center, both within and outside of BNY Fab Lab. This includes leading Fab Lab workshops for museum guests of all ages, ranging from short interactions to 90-minute or longer classes. Additional responsibilities include ensuring participant safety while using Fab Lab equipment, tracking and recording daily lab information, and assisting with machine maintenance as needed. Primary working hours are Thursday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM, with occasional evening shifts from 2 PM to 10 PM. Weekend availability is required.

Education And Experience:
The Fab Lab Education Facilitator must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Ideal Applicants Should Possess:
- A bachelor’s or associate degree in education, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Graphic Design, Mathematics), or a related field, OR
- One or more years of experience working in a digital makerspace and/or using rapid prototyping technology, OR
- One or more years of experience teaching a wide range of age groups, from children through adults, using project- and -inquiry based lessons.

- Patience, reliability, and strong instructional skills for audiences of all ages and abilities.
- Ability to multitask and scaffold lessons appropriately in both formal and informal educational settings.
- Passion for making, learning, and sharing multidisciplinary concepts and technologies utilized in a Fab Lab.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with a commitment to customer service.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (or equivalent) and basic drawing programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand for a minimum of 90 minutes at a time to facilitate Fab Lab activities.
- Ability to move equipment in and out of the Fab Lab and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Candidates will be considered qualified if they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND Accountabilities:
- Complete safety training on all Fab Lab machinery.
- Deliver safe and engaging formal and informal lessons using Fab Lab technologies.
- Train staff, volunteers, interns, teachers, and guests on the use of Fab Lab hardware and software.
- Provide technical support for Fab Lab hardware and software as needed.
- Participate as a team member in assigned working groups and project teams.
- Maintain accurate daily lab records to document attendance, machine usage, lab activities, and inventory.
- Collaborate with the Fab Lab team to develop and deliver new Fab Lab programming for visitors, students, and educators, including standards-aligned interdisciplinary maker-based lesson plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The following PA Act 153 clearances, or proof of application of clearances, are required beginning employment and as a condition of continued employment: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check Obtaining the required clearances is completed as part of the new hire process.
