The Development & Events Assistant is an entry-level professional who supports fundraising and event efforts for the Bristol Bay Foundation (BBF). This position is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the BBF Development Plan, tracking funds for events like the annual Neqa in Bristol Bay and other donor cultivation activities, and maintaining the donor database. The Development & Events Assistant works closely with leadership to ensure accurate data management and effective donor stewardship. This full-time position reports to the Deputy Director. We are seeking to fill this position by mid-January 2025. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submissions are encouraged.
Event Coordination and Fundraising
- Coordinate and support fundraising efforts for BBF’s annual Neqa in Bristol Bay event and other donor engagement activities.
- Adhere to event budgets and work with team to achieve revenue fundraising targets, monitor expenses.
- Collaborate with leadership and the Foundation team on event planning, outreach, and financial management.
- Create and deliver accurate proposals, invoices and receipts for event sponsors, as well as process and code all payments related to events.
- Work with event vendors to ensure quality events.
- Carryout the BBF Development Plan to engage, recognize, and retain donors.
- Ensuring donor retention and engagement metrics are met annually.
- Support recurring events and campaigns including Quyana Night celebration, annual BBNC corporate employee giving campaign, alumni giving circle, Bristol Bay Leadership Forum, BBNC Holiday Party, occasional lunch & learns.
- Provide back up support for regular quarterly BBF Board meetings, as well as events hosted by the scholarship, cultural heritage and program teams.
- Work collaboratively with communications contractors (and staff) to highlight impact of donor and programs for the monthly newsletter, as well as social media channels.
Donor Database Management
- Administer the BBF CRM system (Bloomerang and Qgiv), ensuring accurate data entry, gift processing, acknowledgments, and regular updates.
- Generate reports, mailing lists, and data queries to support fundraising and stewardship activities, including maintenance of constant contact email lists. Reconcile monthly development revenue records with the finance department and support audits.
- Implement best practices for donor recognition and maintain compliance with ethical and privacy guidelines.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with donor stewardship and engagement activities as directed by leadership.
- Create and manage the annual holiday card and/or gifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet revenue and donor engagement goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Two-year or four-year degree preferred, with at least 2 years of progressive experience in development, fundraising, or nonprofit management.
- Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook), and Adobe.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Alaska Native organizations or nonprofits.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse individuals.
- High-level grammar, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with confidential information and maintain discretion.
- Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with Bristol Bay culture and heritage is preferred.
Work Environment:
- Office-based work with occasional travel to rural and remote villages in the Bristol Bay region by small plane.
- Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
