Mechanical Engineer
Glacier Support Services, LLC (GSS) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support medical research activity related to the development and testing of Exoskeleton Devices, which will assist Services Members that have been wounded and allow them to maintain mobility on the battlefield.
Qualifications:
- Experience in entire mechanical product design and development process, including determining design specifications, design simulation and optimization, creating prototypes, and product testing
- Proficient with CAD software
- Proficient in MatLab
- Design, Fabrication, Installation, and Integration of Instrumentation Devices
- Data Collection & Analysis
Position Requirements:
- Development of Exoskeleton Devices
- Assist in the development of a one-size-fits-most lower leg exoskeleton frame to resist ground reaction forces on material selection and design feasibility of multiple aspects of an exoskeleton device to include, but not limited to an air bladder system, soft shell, frame and locking knee joint mechanism.
- Assist in the development of a one-size-fits-most thigh exoskeletal frame that transfers load from the lower leg frame to thigh or pelvis on material selection and design feasibility of multiple aspects of an exoskeleton device to include, but not limited to an air bladder system, soft shell, frame and locking knee joint mechanism.
- Assist in the identification or design of a locking knee joint mechanism.
- Collect, record, maintain, and analyze data to document the development of exoskeleton devices.
- Interpret results and prepare manuscripts, reports, and presentations for publication.
- Collaborate with other research team members to optimize development plans for exoskeleton devices.
- The development, documentation, and optimized testing plans of exoskeleton devices that will help wounded service members remain mobile on the battlefield while awaiting evacuation.
- Testing Exoskeleton Devices
- Equip lower leg models with load cells, strain gauges, and motion capture markers to measure force and displacement.
- Assist with mechanical testing of exoskeleton devices on surrogate leg models to ensure the devices are implemented properly and are fully functional.
- Assist with human cadaver and human subjects testing of exoskeleton devices to ensure the devices are implemented properly and are fully functional.
- Interpret exoskeleton device test results and prepares manuscripts, reports, and presentations for publication.
- The performance of mechanical and human subject testing where the exoskeleton devices are properly implemented and fully functional.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Field.
Ten years direct experience, including experience in Medical Research.
