STS Systems Defense, LLC (SSD) is seeking a Mechanical or Industrial Engineer. The ideal candidate must be able to perform the tasks listed below (but are not limited to the tasks listed below). 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Aerospace Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a background in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, with experience supporting the Air Force and aerospace engineering sectors. This role will focus on depot maintenance and the production, repair, and maintenance of aerospace parts and systems, so expertise in aerospace electronics, propulsion, and mechanical systems is required. A Professional Engineer (PE) license from a US state or territory is desired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aerospace Part Production and Maintenance: Oversee and contribute to the production and depot maintenance of aerospace parts, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.
  • Engineering Design and Analysis: Apply engineering principles to design, analyze, and optimize aerospace systems and components. Use CAD software and other tools to create and modify engineering designs.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and solutions for issues related to electronics, propulsion systems, and mechanical components in aerospace systems.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage engineering projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring. Ensure quality projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant regulations and military and aerospace industry standards. Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation and reports.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and other engineering departments to ensure seamless operations and successful project outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related aerospace engineering field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, with a focus on aerospace, depot maintenance and production. Experience with aerospace electronics, propulsion, and mechanical systems is essential.
  • Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas is preferred; however, licensure in any of the U.S. states or territories is acceptable. If not currently licensed, the ability to obtain licensure within a specified timeframe is required.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Strong understanding of aerospace systems and components.
  • Experience working with military and aerospace standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality work.

Working Conditions:

  • Work Environment: Office and manufacturing environments. Some travel to field sites may be required.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry items up to 30 pounds. Must be able to work in various environmental conditions typical of aerospace production and maintenance settings.
