Commissary Assistant - Portland

Position Overview:

As a Commissary Clerk you will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the centralized kitchen that prepares and distributes food to various locations (Commissary).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Packing & sorting product
  • Loading cargo van
  • Driving cargo van when needed (must have a valid driver's license)
  • Assisting with ordering and receiving food products and supplies as needed in the absence of management
  • Conducting regular stock checks and updating inventory records as needed
  • Performing clerical duties such as data entry, filing and maintaining records such as purchase orders, inventory, deliveries, hot food logs, cooling logs, etc
  • Assisting in processing and fulfilling orders from various outlets or locations being serviced by the commissary
  • Ensuring accuracy in order preparation and timely delivery of products
  • Performing quality checks on received products and maintaining a high food quality level based on company specifications
  • Adhering to all food safety and sanitation requirements by company and local health departments
  • Maintain sales floor, preparation, equipment and storage areas that are clean, orderly and meeting company and health department standards at all times
  • Communicating effectively with kitchen staff, delivery drivers and other team members
  • Communicating important information regarding orders, inventory and any other issues with the right leadership or parties
  • Safely operating the delivery vehicle either van or truck to transport foods, supplies or products from the commissary to designated locations as necessary
  • Assist Commissary Manager with inspecting, maintaining and actively reporting any and all mechanical or safety malfunctions/issues with vehicles.
  • Adhere to all company safety standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

  • Insert appropriate working environment temperatures

Schedule:

  • Weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
  • Day shift (M-F, 6 hour shifts)

 

Experience:

  • Preferred: Zero  - One (0-1) year kitchen experience or relevant experience
  • ServeSafe certification or comparable
  • Valid Driver license and clean driving record

 

Skills:

  • Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; walking on a variety of flooring such as concrete, tile, carpet etc
  • Strong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Working in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality
  • Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives
  • Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
