Position Overview:

 

As the Vice President of Warehouse Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing all warehouse functions, ensuring world-class safety, quality, productivity, and service standards. Reporting to the Executive Vice President (EVP), this role will lead a multi-site distribution network of three locations, develop high-performing leaders, and drive continuous improvement while exceeding customer expectations. This role requires an experienced proven hands-on executive who can implement best-in-class warehousing strategies, optimize operational efficiencies, and foster a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence. The ideal candidate has deep expertise providing effective leadership in high-volume food distribution and a proven track record of driving operational success at scale.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a high-volume, multi-site warehouse network to support a $2.8 billion wholesale business
  • Develop and execute strategies that improve efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness
  • Implement and continuously refine KPIs for safety, quality, service levels, and financial performance
  • Drive best-in-class inventory management, order fulfillment, and labor utilization
  • Transform & reinforce a culture of safety, ensuring commitment, compliance with OSHA, FDA, and other regulatory standards
  • Lead and monitor food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance programs
  • Reduce safety incidents through proactive training, audits, and high level of engagement
  • Inspire, develop, and mentor a team of Directors, Operation Managers, and Warehouse Leaders
  • Foster a performance-driven culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement
  • Drive succession planning and leadership development to ensure long-term operational excellence
  • Adopt and embrace new hires to become long-term successful associates
  • Foster and drive a culture of engagement at all levels
  • Ensure best-in-class customer service, exceeding expectations for order accuracy and on-time delivery
  • Partner with Human Resources, Transportation, Procurement, IT and Sales teams to drive seamless end-to-end supply chain performance
  • Optimize warehouse layouts, slotting, and workflow to enhance efficiency and throughput
  • Manage a multi-million-dollar warehouse operations budget, ensuring cost control and efficiency
  • Drive lean principles and cost-reduction initiatives to improve operational margins
  • Analyze key financial and operational data to support data-driven decision-making
  • Improve business acumen of front-line leadership
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Experience:

  • Must have at least fifteen (15) years of Warehouse Operations/Distribution related experience; (five) 5 years of experience as VP or Senior Executive Role
  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field
  • Knowledge of regulations, compliance requirements and industry best practices
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems such as but not limited to: Voice recognition technology (VoCollect), Employee Management systems (Dayforce/Ceridian), WMS, E-mail, Voice mail etc

Environment:

  • Warehouse Grocery – approx. 50F – 90F
  • Warehouse Perishable – approx. 26F -  60F
  • Warehouse Freezer – approx. 0F - -20F

Skills:

  • Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies to all associates; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
  • Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 75lbs.; the ability to operate required facility equipment; Ability to stand, walk and sit throughout your day; Walking on a variety of flooring such as carpet, concrete, tile etc;
  • Strong communication Skills: Ability to provide & receive constructive feedback; communication of expectations and directions clearly
  • Building a team-based environment: Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation and team-building skills; inclusive decision making
  • Project Management: Results driven regarding implemented KPI’s/Metrics; willingness to participate in continuous improvement projects; managing multiple deadline-based projects
  • Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives
