Job Description

Legacy Behavioral Health Services is hiring individuals with a passion for making a difference in their community! We are seeking a Manager of Patient Access to work in our Lowndes Mental Health Clinic in Valdosta, Georgia. The Manager of Patient Access Services is responsible for the daily work flow of all patient access staff in scheduling and pre-service departments.  Ensures that staff is operating in accordance with policies and procedures of the department and organization.  Works with Operations Managers to ensure good client relationships and team work.

Duties include recruiting, hiring and mentoring new employees, implementing industry standard key production indicators and motivating staff to ensure department goals are met and exceeded. Creates and maintains a positive culture for achieving outstanding client experiences.

This position requires:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a management level position in patient access or customer service, self-pay collections, billing and cash posting in a hospital, healthcare organization or physician practice
  • Experience with Microsoft  office required, including charting, flow charting and cause and effect.
  • Must meet deadlines and manage competing demands.
  • Must have knowledge of insurance eligibility verification and payment processing.
  • Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient with Windows, MS Office Suite
  • Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgement and strong work ethic.
  • Works cooperatively in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and be detailed oriented.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with patients, staff and managers both verbally and in writing.
  • Shows objectivity and openness to others’ views; gives and welcomes feedback.
  • Employee must possess advanced computer skills, and ability to learn new financial software applications.

Working Conditions:
Physical Demands

Sit, walk, and stand:  may spend up to twenty-five percent of working time standing/walking.  Lift, carry, push, pull: usually not more than ten pounds of force is needed to lift, carry push, or pull objects.  Bend, stoop, or kneel.  Occasional bending and kneeling may be required in troubleshooting equipment/assisting clients.  Manual dexterity/wrist and hand repetitions:  good manual and finger dexterity is needed; up to fifty percent of working time may be spent using a computer keyboard.  Vision, hearing, and speaking.  must have good visual acuity and depth perception to operate the computer system; speaking and hearing are essential to the communication needs of the position.

 

Environmental Conditions

Employees in this position may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from persons served or the working environment. Moving mechanical parts are found in the work environment. Work is performed in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled, and humidity-controlled environment.

May be requested on occasion to travel to conferences and meetings as an organization representative.  Must be able to attend these as required.
