Flexible work schedule: Monday-Friday, 10a-6p, some nights and weekends

 

We are looking for a compassionate Programming/Activity Assistant to join our Independent Living team! The Programming/Activity Assistant organizes and implements programs designed to meet the individual needs of our residents. The program is intended to fulfill basic psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs while promoting self-esteem in a caring, nurturing environment. The Programming/Activity Assistant supports and assists the Activity Director in all necessary programming.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Assists in the development and implementation of an innovative daily program for residents
  • Assists with outings and accompanies residents as needed
  • Assists in planning our events, decorating and advertising of event
  • Assists in setting up virtual and zoom programs
  • Manages Mailchimp and online Vimeo account
  • Assist the residents with the creation of our newsletter
  • Participate in resident committees
  • Ensure common rooms, tables and chairs are set up properly and supplies are staged in advance of various resident programs
  • Ensure all common areas of independent living are maintained in neat order
  • Maintain information on closed circuit TV
  • Maintain files and computer records, and other types of information
  • Maintain monthly, weekly and daily calendars
  • Create and distribute event flyers
  • Participate in meetings and development training as required

 

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues. Must be qualified by experience and training to develop programs appropriate for elders and disabled individuals
  • Possesses training and knowledge in recreational activities
  • Possesses training and knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community
  • Shows a consistent ability to coordinate multiple tasks, demonstrates a positive attitude, and works well under pressure
