The Assistant Director of Food and Beverage will develop and implement food services policies and procedures, plan menus according to resident dietary guidelines, and assist in developing/maintaining food services budgets. The role is responsible for supporting the Director for the overall operation of the Dining Services Department and for meeting or exceeding hospitality and service standards. Responsibilities

  • Monitors the quality and consistency of the food to include food temperatures, portion control, palatability and attractiveness of food, and implements changes to ensure quality according to established standards.
  • Establish and maintain an accurate system for the tracking of meals served.
  • Versed in Point of Service system – administrates all back of house functions
  • Monitors and corrects safety and sanitation procedures in the kitchen and dining rooms throughout community
  • Interacts with residents, families and staff during mealtimes to monitor resident satisfaction or complaints about food service.
  • Selects, schedules, and conducts orientation and in-service educational programs for personnel.
  • Set up and maintains timekeeping policies and practices per BSL standard – ensures timely and accurate hourly staff submissions
  • Evaluates and recommends equipment purchases according to established procedures.
  • Prepares departmental objectives based on sound financial analysis, keeps work records and schedules, prepares department budgets, requisitions supplies, monitors inventory and establishes appropriate controls.
  • Assists other departments to ensure an organized and uniform system of services to residents.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel. Ability to use email and the Internet.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in a food service environment
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, as well as speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Must have successfully completed food safety training.
  • Completion of Certification of Allergen Training within thirty days of hire.
  • Manages people effectively by taking responsibility for subordinates' activities; makes self-available to staff; provides regular performance feedback; develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth; improves processes, products and services.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
