Meadow Ridge, a Benchmark Senior Living Community, is the premier life care retirement community in Fairfield County, located on 136 acres in beautiful Redding, Connecticut. In this unique and enriching environment, we offer Independent and Assisted Living apartment homes, as well as a skilled Health Center where we provide our residents with quality care and services.

We are seeking a compassionate Programming/Activity Assistant to join our team in a part-time role. The Programming/Activity Assistant is responsible for assisting the Director of Resident Life & the Resident Life team with the overall planning and implementation of varied activity and educational programs designed to meet the unique and individual needs of our Independent Living Residents.

21 hour weekly schedule

  Days/hours flexible, with a willingness to work an occaisional evening or weekend necessary

Hourly wage range: $18 -$19.25

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Programs and Activities:

  • Assist, plan and coordinate activities and events, work with resident committees, discussion groups, cultural activities, religious services, special in-house entertainment, off-property trips, special events, IT support, in-house movies, instructional courses, workshops, presentations, marketing events, parties etc.
  • Encourage new residents to participate in activities and help acclimate them into their new Meadow Ridge Community
  • Research and arrange the logistics for trips, events, speakers and entertainers
  • Accompany residents on out-trips to ensure safety and an enjoyable experience

 Operations:

  •  Assists Community Life Director in daily operations; carries out activities and events in the absence of the Director
  • Assists with purchasing supplies for activities as needed.
  • Maintains equipment; ensures all equipment is tested and functional prior to program, activity, and/or event. Arranges transportation with the Meadow Ridge Transportation Department

Communication:

  • Coordinates scheduling of all common areas for use by program, residents, and staff.
  • Assists with preparation and distribution of the monthly calendar, weekly activities bulletin, event flyers and in-house tv programming and resident on-line communication portal.
  • Coordinate with other departments as required, in advance of activity, following Meadow Ridge policy and procedures manuals (i.e. food & beverage, housekeeping, maintenance, etc.) 

Position Qualifications:

Education/Training:

Associates Degree (AAS) required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience:

  • One (1) year experience in geriatrics, recreation, social administration or a prior role with transferrable skills
  • Experience in a Continuum of Care Retirement Community (CCRC), Assisted Living, and/or Long Term Care (LTC) Facility preferred
