General Statement of Duties:  The Compliance Systems Specialist is responsible for the implementation and ongoing quality control of affordable related functions in the Yardi Voyager software. The Compliance Systems Specialist protects the Owner’s interests by ensuring software compliance with federal, state, and local affordable housing programs, including but not limited to Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), Project-Based Section 8, Public Housing, HOME, etc. throughout the company portfolio.

Essential Functions of the Position

  • Manage affordable related functions in Yardi software following company and agency rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Ongoing quality control and collaboration on initial setup of affordable properties in Yardi.
  • Income and rent limit mapping and ongoing maintenance of all affordable programs tracked in Yardi including ensuring the program types are accurately represented (i.e. starting/ending affordable program functions, income/rent restriction mapping, etc.).
  • Lead Compliance participation in annual Yardi upgrade testing groups to identify new features and changes and identify training needs.
  • Track, setup, and implement affordable-related processes in Yardi to include newly released functions following software upgrades.
  • Analyze existing Yardi affordable-related workflows to innovate improvements and optimize efficiencies.
  • Participate in ongoing Rent Café Affordable Housing (RCAH) pilot at Georgetowne Homes.
  • Participate and/or lead (as assigned) RCAH implementation for future properties.
  • Maintain, assign, track, and respond to support tickets within the Company’s internal Customer Service Platform (BeaconHelp).
  • Assess, manage, and resolve problematic or urgent affordable related issues in Yardi.
  • Proactively identify pain points for training opportunities – create training materials, conduct training, and measure progress.
  • Provide support and guidance to property management teams, and other Service Centers for compliance related questions and Yardi functions – participate in working groups and attend in-person collaborative sessions, as assigned.
  • General troubleshooting/support and collaboration with other Service Centers, and Yardi support staff on affordable-related issues and questions.
  • Track and maintain property income and rent limit charts when new limits are published annually by HUD.
  • Provide support and backup for all Compliance tasks, including HAP contract renewals and rent increase requests for PBRA contracts.
  • Enforce and adhere to company policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Work patiently, professionally, and cooperatively with internal staff and external partners.
  • Attend related continuing education seminars including the Yardi Advanced Solutions Conference (YASC) and Yardi Affordable Forum.
  • Special projects based on departmental needs, and as assigned by supervisor.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge and expertise gained through experience.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience working with Yardi Voyager.
  • Five (5) years of affordable housing experience.
  • Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS), C3P designation, or other equivalent industry designations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of affordable housing regulations including but not limited to LIHTC, PBS8, Public Housing, and HOME.
  • Familiarity with housing agency regulations and related terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with the ability to work across different levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with proven problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in training, project management, and public speaking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software (including Teams, Word, Excel, etc.) and Yardi Voyager.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and creative with the ability to carry out both strategic and tactical work to further the vision of the Company.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations and pressure due to complexity and time-sensitivity.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Travel Requirements: May attend collaborative in-office meetings, planning sessions, or external training seminars
