General Description
The Football Communications Coordinator will work in various capacities throughout the Communications Department, helping to proactively inform the media and community about endeavors of the team. The Coordinator will assist in designing, writing, updating and proofing player/coach biographies, press releases, media guides, website content, weekly game releases and other communications projects. The Coordinator will assist all members of the Communications Department, in conjunction with working alongside Ravens players, coaches and the media members.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as lead of the production (design, layout and content) for the Ravens’ in-season weekly game release by researching/writing/updating team, player, coach and executive notes pages
- Serve as a contact for all matters relating to NFLOMG, including updating player, coach and staff bios and managing roster updates/transactions
- Contribute to writing, editing and designing the Ravens’ annual Season Review, Media Guide, NFL Draft Information Guide and Yearbook
- Serve as the department's primary statistician, developing player/team notes, tracking statistical milestones and helping determine the best course for dissemination of information
- Serve as the primary writer of post-game notes both at home and on the road
- Contribute content (feature, statistical, etc.) for all home gameday programs
- Compose statistical information for football-related press releases (trades, extensions, player signings, etc.)
- Serve as the primary contact for statistical platforms/outlets TruMedia, Pro Football Reference, Elias and StatsPass, etc.
- Assist department’s interns with transcribing press conferences, Zoom/conference calls, group interviews and locker room availabilities, with an additional emphasis on proofreading.
- Support the coordination and execution of player, coach and staff media interviews and availabilities
- Assist with media coverage tracking projects and processes, including daily monitoring of social media accounts and league media sites
- Gameday duties at home (and possibly on the road) include, but are not limited to:
- Interact and facilitate information with the media and opposing PR staff to ensure excellent representation of the Ravens organization
- Track stats, team and player milestones
- Assist in transcribing post-game press conferences and locker room interviews
- Serve as a contact for photo lounge and service level media
- Arrive at the stadium at least four hours prior to kickoff and close the press box following the game
- Work closely with the department’s interns to provide mentorship and guidance
- Be present at Training Camp to assist in media access and practice coverage
- Be present on NFL Draft days to assist with media access/availability, information reports and general team support
- Perform other related departmental duties as required by the Sr. Vice President of Communications, the Vice President of Public Relations, Sr. Director of Public Relations, Sr. Director of Communications and Public Relations Coordinator
Required Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in communications, journalism, sports management or related field
- Minimum two years of working in sports communications
- Experience working with and/or representing elite athletes
Requisite Abilities and/or Skills
- Proficient computer skills utilizing InDesign, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop and various football statistical websites (e.g. TruMedia, NFLGSIS, StatsPass, Pro Football Reference, NFLOMG)
- High-character individual with excellent communication, interpersonal and public relations skills
- Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment under strict deadlines
- Must be a team player with strong self and group awareness
- Supreme attention to detail in all aspects of operation
- Excellent writing and proofreading skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all types of people, including staff and management, professional and elite athletes, media members, local officials and corporate partners
- Must be highly organized with outstanding time/task management skills
- Must possess supreme decision-making skills
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment
- Must be able to work independently
- Thorough understanding and a passion for the sport of football
- Ability to present and promote team’s public relations programs in a manner that creates interest from media, community and sponsors
- Creative ability, both in generating ideas and solving problems
- Ability to lead and motivate a team of individuals
- Ability to generate enthusiasm and interest in the sport of football
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays and evenings, as required.
Salary and Benefits
- Range: $58,000 – 62,000
- Company-paid health insurance, including health and vision. Dental insurance also provided with minimal employee contribution
