Audio Visual and Broadcast Systems Engineer

General Description: The Ravens are seeking a talented individual to join our team as an Audio Visual and Broadcast Systems Engineer. The position will serve as the technical point of contact for audio and video systems at M&T Bank Stadium as well as UAPC (Under Armour Performance Center) productions systems. This position will oversee IPTV programming at M&T Bank Stadium and will manage content on the Ravens’ interior and exterior advertising network displays. The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical and operational skills in live environments that will ensure our successful broadcasts. We’re looking for a driven, team-oriented, intellectually curious engineer with a feel for content and a can-do attitude.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day audio/visual technical operations of Ravens Productions, including live production at M&T Bank Stadium & both live & post-production at UAPC
- Collaborate with the Maryland Stadium Authority technical team on maintenance for all M&T Bank Stadium equipment and systems. Coordinate and execute health checks, preventive maintenance schedules, and technical training on production equipment and broadcast systems, workflow improvements and project execution
- Consult with MSA and Ravens regarding engineering and upgrades at M&T Bank Stadium, including control room lifecycle and replacement planning
- Monitor all video boards at M&T Bank Stadium; open and monitor tickets with vendor and perform basic maintenance if needed
- Develop annual capital budgets for continued improvements to the broadcast systems
- Form and develop relationships with vendors and manufacturers to ensure optimal operation of all systems
- Serve as the Ravens’ primary point of contact for the Vitec IPTV system at M&T Bank Stadium. Establish channel lineups, load content, and establish proof-of-performance for partner assets.
- Oversee Ravens’ interior and exterior video screens, including loading content, maintaining displays and providing proof of performance for content
- Act as a main on-site contact for freelancers and broadcast partners during events
- Act as a stadium EIC during Ravens games and events at M&T Bank Stadium
- Administer and troubleshoot all technical issues/challenges on-site. Demonstrate a sense of urgency on resolving problems
Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience required.
- 10 years of engineering support at video production facilities, live television control rooms, or with equipment vendors, manufacturers, or consultants.
- Extensive demonstrated knowledge of control room systems, broadcast facilities, and live production.
- Experience with industry standard production equipment, such as: Ross Tessera, Carbonite and Acuity production switchers, Ross Piero, Evertz EQX/EXE router frames, Evertz Dreamcatcher, Evertz Magnum UI, Yamaha CL/QL audio consoles, Vitec or similar IPTV systems, Crestron control panels, Shure Axient system, LiveU encoder/decoder systems, Sony Cameras and CCUs, TSI Tally Systems Reidel/RTS digital matrix intercom systems and Adobe software.
- Exhibit complete understanding of audio/video over IP technologies such as Dante, MADI and SMPTE 2110.
- Experience in live events, in-house production and TV production. Must be able to perform hands-on work with productions and live events while maintaining and updating infrastructure, including the ability to run ancillary event support.
Requisite Abilities and/or Skills:

Ability to make minor on site repairs with skillset that includes soldering audio cable connectors, crimping BNC connectors and terminating Cat 6 connectors to minimalize downtime is a plus.

Ability to troubleshoot issues logically and quickly, and the ability to use and read signal evaluation equipment such as light meters, waveform/vectorscopes, audio scopes and TDR
- Demonstrate excellent communication, teamwork and time-management skills.
- Strong knowledge of technical video elements including codecs, specs, aspect ratios, and frame rates.
- Ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
- Proven ability to successfully plan, coordinate, and execute tactically and strategically.
- The ability to work during non-traditional business hours required, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Salary and Benefits:
- Range: $100,000 – 120,000+
