Camp Operations Lead

SUMMARY:
The Camp Operations Lead will collaborate with the Senior Director of Operations to provide operational support to J Camps. This includes overseeing set up, modified scheduled days, communication with leadership and staff, and assisting with carpool. This position also involves providing logistical and setup support for special events. This position will play a key role in the set-up and clean-up of camp.
Length of Position:
- Pre-Camp: May 12 - June 20, 2025, hours TBD
- Camp Season: June 23 - August 14, 2025- approx. hours 8:15 am -4:45 pm
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Pre-Camp
- Work with the Senior Director of J Camps to lead the overall set up of J Camps, including outdoor and indoor set up of facilities and supplies.
- Take the lead on counting and organizing camp t shirts
- Oversee the setting up of staff offices including coordinating with HR to assure computers are set up and ready for use.
- Provide operational support for pre-week camps that reflects the responsibilities of the main 8-week camp season.
- Support Orientation Operations to include set-up and clean-up of space needs, inclement weather plans, staff sign-in/sign-out procedures, and Back to Camp night.
- Main 8-Weeks Camp Season (June 23 – August 15)
- Oversee morning carpool operations, including the set-up of gyms and maintaining signage daily.
- Work with Senior Director of Operations on afternoon carpool
- Assist with running the scheduled special events 1 - 2 days per week
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director every Thursday to support field trip departure and arrival
- Assist the Operations Director with the oversight of the camp “Runners” to ensure smooth camp operations.
- Work with the Program Director to manage the schedule during heat / rain days, including room set-ups, and ensuring accurate information and communication to staff regarding assignments.
- Be stationed near the gyms on rainy/heat days to support the movement and activities of multiple groups.
- Oversee camper arrival to and dismissal from the Gordon Center and alternate locations when the theater is hosting large events.
- Assume the roles and responsibilities of the Operations Director in their absence.
WHO YOU ARE:
- Experience at summer camp or similar environment preferred.
- Ability to relate and engage positively with both youth and adults
- Willingness to follow and/or give directions.
- Strong leadership and organization skills
- Willingness to work as a part of a team.
- Comfortable asking for assistance when needed or desired.
- Ability to work in an outdoor setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 22 years of age or older
- Comfortable driving a golf cart
- Available from Mid-May until August 15th 2025
PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment may be fast paced and requires high energy and interaction with others. The employee may also be required to frequently be on their feet for periods of time and in the outdoor elements.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
