4Front is the Baltimore Jewish community’s comprehensive teen initiative, managed by the JCC of Greater Baltimore. SUMMARY:
A team player with a can-do attitude, 4Front’s Diller Coordinator helps to implement a vision for more engaged Jewish teens throughout Jewish Baltimore, serving as a passionate facilitator and leader of Jewish teen programming. This professional will plan and implement engaging and impactful teen programs from start to finish, with content focusing on leadership, Jewish identity, Israel, and advocacy.
The core component of this position is leading the Baltimore Diller Teen Fellows program. Diller Teen Fellows is a prestigious leadership program for teens in 11th grade and spearheads the development of Jewish youth leadership founded on a unique model of Jewish pluralism, Jewish Peoplehood, and Israel-Diaspora partnership. Diller Teen Fellows is an international program with 32 participating communities around the world, supported by the Helen Diller Family Foundation. This position includes tremendous opportunity for professional development through multiple growth-oriented opportunities throughout the year, including both national and international conferences annually. The Program Coordinator engages in Diller International’s immersive professional development seminars three times per year along with other Diller educators from across the U.S., Canada, South Africa, Australia, South America, Europe and Israel. This is in preparation for managing and leading seminars with the teen fellows, including our 3-week trip to Israel in the summer.
Additionally, as a member of the innovative 4Front team, the Diller Coordinator will also assist in supporting 4Front’s mission to enhance Jewish teen engagement in Baltimore through additional program planning and facilitation. The Program Coordinator will spend 80% of their time on the Diller Fellowship and the other 20% of their time on other 4Front responsibilities and advancing the mission of 4Front.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Lead and manage the Diller Teen Fellowship, including but not limited to:
- Managing the marketing, recruitment, interviewing and selection process for 20 participants in each annual cohort, supported by the 4Front team.
- Developing and leading scheduled workshops and retreats throughout the year in accordance with the Diller mission, vision, and goals (includes but is not limited to logistics, budget management, service-learning projects, and Israel Education).
- Planning and managing all logistics related to workshops and retreats, service-learning projects, Israel education and travel planning, including overseeing the local budget.
- Establishing strong one on one relationships with each of the 20 participants
- Leading the selection process and provide mentorship for two Junior Staff
- Hiring and supervising a Program Intern for each programmatic year
- Designing, co-leading and supervising, in partnership with our Israeli counterpart, seminars in Baltimore & Israel.
- Participating in ongoing curriculum development and program evaluation in coordination with Diller International staff.
- Participating in local, national, and international conference calls and professional development seminars.
- Managing the Diller budget
- Support the engagement of Jewish teens in Baltimore, including but not limited to:
- Advancing the mission of 4Front to engage Jewish teens in the Baltimore community through additional outreach, one-off events or guest facilitation opportunities.
- Co-staffing 4Front teen signature programs when needed
- Assisting with any all-hands-on-deck 4Front and JCC events
- Working with parents to help them understand and contribute to their teens’ experience.
- Active participation in national and international professional development through Diller International, as well as 4Front and JCC agency wide trainings, staff meetings, and special events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHO YOU ARE:
- Proven success developing personal connections with young people
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 2-3 years of relevant work experience
- Understanding of and appreciation for Israeli culture, preferably including extended time in Israel and at least a beginning-intermediate understanding of Israeli history, politics, and geography
- Familiarity with Jewish concepts and values, calendar, and practices
- Experience developing and leading programming addressing Jewish identity development, youth leadership development, community service, and Israel education
- Experience in experiential education, group facilitation, program development and/or management
- Strong facilitation, organization, and written/oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to complete multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to collaborate in an international partnership
- Works well in a team environment
- Availability to work evenings and weekends, including travel to Israel for 3 weeks during the summer as well as additional travel during the year to a variety of conferences and trainings
