SUMMARY:
Instructors have a variety of job functions including, but not limited to, successfully leading a class through appropriately designed routines, with proper music selection to enhance overall fitness, strength, and endurance, while ensuring the safety of the members. Recording attendance is considered an after-class duty.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Lead engaging indoor cycling classes, providing a high-energy and motivating experience.
- Create challenging and enjoyable workouts.
- Ensure the safety of participants during classes, including proper bike setup and form.
- Inspire and guide participants to achieve their fitness goals.
- Create and execute challenging and dynamic cycling workouts that cater to participants of all fitness levels.
- Provide personalized guidance and support to participants to help them achieve their fitness goals.
- Maintain a clean and organized cycling studio, including bike maintenance and cleanliness.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and cycling techniques to continually enhance class offerings.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
WHO YOU ARE:
- Certified Indoor Cycle Instructor (e.g., Spinning, Schwinn, Les Mills RPM or equivalent certification).
- Adult CPR/AED Certification (Training will be provided through the JCC if needed)
- Previous experience teaching indoor cycling classes is a plus.
- Excellent communication and motivational skills.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive class environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Availability to teach classes during mornings, evenings, and weekends.
PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The work environment may be fast paced and requires high energy and interaction with others. The workspace may be noisy, at times.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary Range: The minimum salary for a new instructor is $25 per hour. An experienced instructor (5+ years experience) with a national group fitness certification, will start at $30.50 per hour.
Benefit & Perks: When an instructor has at least one weekly, on-going class on schedule, the JCC offers membership to the Jewish Community Center, discounts on programs including preschool and summer camp, and wellbeing programming.
