SUMMARY:
Seeking a dynamic and passionate Les Mills Instructor to join our fitness team. As a Les Mills Instructor, you will be responsible for leading energetic and engaging group fitness classes based on Les Mills programs. Your primary goal is to inspire and motivate participants, helping them achieve their fitness objectives while delivering a high-energy and enjoyable workout experience.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Les Mills Classes:
- Instruct Les Mills group fitness classes; BodyAttack, BodyBalance, BodyCombat, BodyPump, BodyStep, Les Mills CORE and other Les Mills programs.
- Deliver safe, and effective workouts to cater to various fitness levels within the class.
- Motivate Participants:
- Inspire and encourage participants to reach their fitness goals through positive reinforcement and personalized guidance i.e. alternatives/options/variations.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes a sense of community among class participants.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Les Mills program techniques, choreography, and music synchronization.
- Stay updated on the latest Les Mills releases and maintain certification requirements.
- Safety and Form:
- Ensure the safety of participants by monitoring proper form and technique during exercises.
- Provide modifications and alternatives to accommodate participants with different fitness levels and abilities.
- Customer Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with class participants by creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
- Address participant questions, concerns, and refer them to seek advice from a medical professional when appropriate.
- Class Preparation:
- Plan and prepare class routines in advance, ensuring a variety of exercises that align with Les Mills guidelines.
- Set up and organize class equipment to ensure a smooth and efficient workout experience.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Les Mills Certification:
- Maintain current Les Mills certification in relevant programs and stay informed about updates and new releases.
- Adult CPR/AED Certification (Training will be provided through the JCC if needed)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with participants and provide clear instructions.
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for health and fitness, with a strong desire to help others achieve their fitness goals.
- Reliability: Consistent and punctual attendance, with the ability to commit to a regular class schedule.
PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The work environment may be fast paced and requires high energy and interaction with others. The workspace may be noisy, at times.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary Range: The minimum salary for a new instructor is $25 per hour. An experienced instructor (5+ years experience) will start at $28 per hour. Having a national group fitness certification will increase the starting rate by $2.50 per hour.
Benefit & Perks: When an instructor has at least one weekly, on-going class on schedule, the JCC offers membership to the Jewish Community Center, discounts on programs including preschool and summer camp, and wellbeing programming.
