Development & Communications Manager
CHAI is seeking a Development & Communications Manager to advance the visibility, reputation, and funding of CHAI and the Edward A. Myerberg Center through strategic communications and effective donor engagement. This role will oversee both the marketing and development functions, ensuring that all materials, messaging, and outreach align with the organization’s mission and objectives. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, creative thinker, and relationship builder with a passion for supporting community development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications & Marketing
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to increase awareness and engagement.
- Craft compelling content, including program descriptions, issue-area briefs, donor messaging, and press releases.
- Manage website content, ensuring it remains current and engaging.
- Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in nonprofit communications.
Branding and Messaging
- Ensure consistency in branding, messaging, and tone across all platforms.
- Assess and strengthen brand clarity while upholding guidelines across CHAI and Myerberg.
- Provide templates and marketing resources for program staff.
Marketing and Outreach
- Oversee contractors handling social media, graphic design, photography, and website management.
- Manage the production of marketing collateral, including annual reports and brochures.
- Support event planning by shaping content, structure, and messaging.
- Serve as the LinkedIn marketing contact, providing content suggestions and reviewing posts.
Fundraising and Donor Engagement
- Strengthen relationships with donors, funders, and corporate sponsors.
- Manage communications with funders, ensuring timely follow-up and information sharing.
- Assist in executing fundraising campaigns, including the Myerberg Friends and CHAI Community Investment Tax Credits campaigns.
- Support special event fundraising and donor stewardship initiatives.
Grant Support and Development
- Serve as the point of contact for contracted grant services.
- Assist with grant proposals, reports, and letters of intent.
- Research new funding opportunities and work with staff to develop proposals.
What We're Looking For:
- 3-5 years of experience in a development or communications role (nonprofit experience preferred).
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills with a persuasive, engaging style.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects. - Creative thinker with a strategic mindset and a passion for community impact.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, English, or a related field preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
$70,000 – 80,000 commensurate with experience
