Mashgiach (Part time)

As Mashgiach, this employee is responsible for maintaining OU standards of Kashrut in the kitchen and dining room.
Job Summary:
Listed below are various areas of tasks performed by this employee. Examples are given within each for illustrative purposes, but the job is not limited to only these examples.
Kashrut
- Serve as Mashgiach.
- Train all kitchen personnel in Kashrut rules according to the OU Kashrut policies and requirements.
- Ensure the kashering and toveling of all kitchen supplies as needed and maintain the designations of all kitchen utensils to the highest Kashrut standards.
- Check-in and ensure all products have appropriate kosher symbols.
- Check all herbs and produce according to the OU requirements.
- Ensure the inspection of the Eruv on a weekly basis.
- Remain in contact with the OU regarding latest Kashrut alerts.
- Maintain a schedule of all dates of Jewish holidays and fast days and the shifting Shabbat times. Be knowledgeable about restrictions and modifications required for food preparation and service on those days, including when it is permissible to begin and end food preparation.
Food production
- Participate in preparation of meals as specified on the daily production sheet.
Supervising
- When appropriate, oversee immediate food production staff and meal preparation
- Ensure all work is of high quality and is complete.
Cleaning, Sanitation and Safety
- Assist in the daily, weekly and monthly Preventive Maintenance Schedule.
- Ensure kitchen is always clean and sanitation procedures are followed.
- Ensure traffic routes are kept free of obstacles and debris.
- Maintain ServSafe certification.
Food receiving and storage
- Ensure that all food is received in good condition from suppliers and alcohol from guests is labeled, stored, and rotated appropriately, and that they display an approved Hecksher.
Administrative
- Maintain daily Mashgiach log book, refrigeration, and sanitation logs.
- Consult and communicate closely with the Mashgiach team on all issues, including menus, staff performance, and kitchen maintenance.
- Attend all scheduled OU in-service or offsite training sessions.
Guest Service
- Be friendly, helpful, and accommodating when interacting with guests.
- Must not interfere with the groups or be overly inquisitive with guests.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Certified by OU Kosher.
- Three years' working in a commercial hospitality environment, overseeing, and preparing food in large quantities, 50-100+ people, or have the appropriate professional training.

Physical Demands:
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Lift 10-50 pounds.

Mental, Physical and Visual Skills:
Must be able to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with several concrete variables. Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, and do calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages. Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies verbally or in writing. Must be able to do light work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, performing such activities as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, walking, pushing, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Have visual requirements of mid-range vision.
Working Conditions:
Works in a commercial kitchen environment. This is a non-exempt position with work hours set to work part time hours per week.
