ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a Technical Writer to join our Remote Monitoring and Logging System (RMLS) team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This is an on-site position.
RMLS is the FAA’s logging system for recording maintenance work performed on facilities in the National Airspace System (NAS). RMLS provides a rich database of unstructured text; reading every log file.
We are looking for an experienced individual to work independently and in a team environment. This individual:
- Provides documentation from concept and design to development and final review.
- Creates documentation for a variety of work products, including technical reports, user guides, operations manuals, hardware descriptions, training material, and briefings.
- May create graphical images, flow charts, and diagrams for inclusion in documentation and presentations.
- May assist stakeholders in defining documentation requirements.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office software products.
Required Skills
- Associates degree and ten (10) years of related work experience. OR
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of eight (8) years of related work experience.
- Permanent Residency/Green Card (with 3 years residing/working in the US) or US Citizenship is required for the FAA Public Trust/background investigation.
- Proven work experience in writing technical documentation.
- Ability to:
- Deliver high quality documentation, paying close attention to detail.
- Quickly grasp complex technical concepts to document them in an easily understandable format using text and pictures.
- Work in a team environment to support the team’s goals.
- Define documentation requirements.
- Create graphical images, flowcharts, and diagrams.
- Excellent writing, verbal, and customer relations skills.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge/experience in FAA documentation control, formats, conventions, and terms used for the production of System Support Directives, handbooks, Notices and other NAS documentation.
- Ability to adapt to an agile environment.
Essential Job Duties
- Daily collaboration with stakeholders (Developers, Product Owners, and Product Managers) to interpret technical information into seamless products.
- Responsible for working with teams to obtain in-depth understanding of the application requirements.
- Develop, write, and edit standardized technical material for reports, manuals, instruction books and related technical and administrative publications concerning work methods and procedures.
- Create videos to help end users understand application features.
- Attend and may lead meetings, documentation reviews, working groups, and briefings.
Work Environment
- Full-time position with a standard flexible work schedule.
- Occasional travel (less than 5%).
