Summary

Currently seeking a highly motivated individual to support our contract with NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC.  The primary responsibility for this position will be to assist a the Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) office with strategic communication and meeting support tasks.

 

Essential Functions

  • Advisory Board support: Coordinate and manage high level meetings, including the support to the Space Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Advisory Board and NASA’s User Advisory Group (UAG), and potentially other meetings with interagency and international stakeholders.  This may include handling hotel, meeting, A/V, transportation and other meeting logistics, including supporting the appointment of board members and adhering to Federal guidelines.
  • Outreach Events and Exhibits: support logistics for virtual and in person events, such as NASA booths at scientific conferences, NASA socials, school events, and internal events.  This includes developing presentations, coordinating speakers, mailing materials, coordinating with stakeholders, and attending or speaking to the audience, depending on the event. 
  • Website Content Management/Social Media: Ensure the content of NASA.gov websites and social media accounts are updated, as needed, to ensure accuracy, and timeliness of the data. This includes writing, researching, and creating new content based on discussions with engineers and scientists, revising internal content for an external audience, and updating content based recent events and related activity, and tagging content relevant to the Program. 
  • Communications: Develop, implement, and coordinate strategies for future initiatives, and efforts to promote NASA awareness to internal audiences, industry and the public.  This includes assisting in the planning and execution of NASA Sponsored events such as Industry days, brainstorming events; track meetings, conferences and senior manager speaking engagements to provide awareness to HQ managers, etc. 
  • Content Management:  Ensure the content of HEOMD web sites, portals, Wikis, and other collaborative tools is updated, as needed, to ensure accuracy, timeliness, currency of the data. Edit industry and public announcements, documents, agency reports, web content and portal pages, publications, and presentation packages.
  • Support other initiatives related to Strategic Communications and stakeholder engagement.

 

This position is currently hybrid; some work performed at a NASA center, some remote work allowed currently.  It will also involve travel to support meetings and events, typically 2-4x a year.

 

Knowledge and Skills

  1. Communications support experience including communications strategy development, technical writing, editing, PowerPoint presentation development, multimedia product definition, and social media presence and event management.
  2. Experience with communications software and platforms including Microsoft Office and PowerPoint, WebEx, Skype, and Adobe Connect. Must be proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT and Outlook).
  3. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact with and represent the organization to senior executive leadership and staff in NASA, industry, other government agencies, and international organizations.
  4. Five or more years’ experience in similar roles; NASA experience is highly preferred. 
  5. An undergraduate degree is preferred.
