Lead Boiler Tender
ASRC Federal Field Services is seeking an experienced Boiler Tender Lead to support our FLETC contract in Charleston, SC. Under the direction of the Facilities Operations Manager, the lead boiler tender's responsibilities are but no limited to monitor and operate systems and equipment, perform adjustments, observe factors such as temperature and pressure, log daily records, replace equipment parts as needed. Qualified candidate must have a wide breath of boiler plant knowledge and have proven experience installing, maintaining and repairing boiler systems and support equipment at large facilities.
Roles/Responsibilities
• Coordinate boiler tender schedules and provide assistance when required to facilitate a smooth workflow
• Provide technical guidance, training, and leadership support ensuring boiler tenders uphold quality and production standards
• Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of heating plant equipment and preventative maintenance schedule
• Coordinates and schedules outside contractors for equipment maintenance, repairs and annual boiler inspection certifications
• Assembles, installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems according to specifications and codes
• Monitor gauges, dials or other indicators to ensure boiler plant is operating properly and safely
• Use a variety of hand and power tools when performing task such as replacing defective valves, filters, and steam gauges on a heating system
• Contact equipment manufactures or appropriate specialists specialists when necessary to resolve equipment problems
• Test boiler water quality or arrange for testing and take necessary corrective action such as adding chemicals to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits
• Maintain daily logs of operation, maintenance and safety activities including test results, instrument readings and details of equipment malfunctions.
• Provide support and accept fuel oil deliveries, perform and log fuel soundings for submittal to site manager
• Operate and tend stationary engines, boilers and auxiliary equipment such as pumps, compressors, air conditioning equipment, supply and maintain steam or heat for building operations
