We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Global Positioning System (GPS) Engineer to support our USAF contract on Robbins AFB, GA. This project is in support of the 402d Software Engineering Group (SWEG) at Robins Air Force Base, GA. The Senior GPS Engineer supports the 402d SWEG’s mission by working closely with engineers, developers, administrators and other technical teams supporting a variety of weapon system platforms and airframes such as the F-15 and F-35 fighters, the B-1B bomber, the C-5 and C-130 cargo planes, the MQ-9 Reaper and the HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter. All work will be performed on base.
Responsibilities
A Senior Global Positioning System (GPS) Engineer at the 402nd Software Engineering Group (SWEG) at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, is responsible for several key tasks:
- System Development and Integration: Designing, developing, and integrating GPS-related software and hardware systems to ensure precise navigation and timing capabilities.
- System Testing and Evaluation: Conducting rigorous testing and evaluation of GPS systems to verify performance, reliability, and accuracy under various conditions.
- Technical Leadership: Providing guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, ensuring adherence to best practices and fostering innovation in GPS technologies.
- Collaboration: Working closely with other departments, contractors, and stakeholders to align GPS system development with broader mission objectives.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintaining detailed documentation of system designs, test procedures, and evaluations, ensuring compliance with military standards and protocols.
These responsibilities are critical to supporting the mission of the 402nd SWEG, which focuses on software development and maintenance for various weapon systems. The role requires a deep understanding of GPS technologies and their application in military context.
Requirements
- Secret security clearance
- BS Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering from an ABET accredited school
- Minimum 15 years’ experience with at least one of the following:
- Precision Navigation and Timing (PNT)
- Embedded global positioning system/inertial (R-EGI) navigation system
- Resilient-embedded global positioning system/inertial (R-EGI) navigation system
- Kalman Filter Processing
AND
- Minimum 8 years’ software development experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Ada
- Java
- ASP.net
- C#
- C++
- Python
- JavaScript
AND
- Experience with the 2 or more of the following concepts:
- DevSecOps Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery Pipelines
- Automation (Test, Cyber, Deployment)
- Agile Software Development
- Microservice Architecture
- Cloud Based Design/Development
- Object Oriented Programming
- Embedded Systems Architecture
Schedule
- Facilities are open 6am-6pm - you can work with your customer leadership to set hours
- You can flex time during the 2 week pay cycle - avoid using PTO for appointments
- A compressed work schedule may be available at the discretion of work center leadership (i.e. 4/10 or 9/80)
