ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a System Tester to join our team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. 

 

The fully-automated NextGen Weather Processor (NWP) identifies aviation safety hazards and translates weather information needed to predict route blockage and airspace capacity constraints up to 8 hours in advance. 

  • Provides a consistent weather picture, with timely analyses and short-term predictive elements tailored to specific aviation requirements.
  • Translates the weather picture into reliable airspace constraints for integration into air traffic decision-making.
  • Enables safe, timely, and efficient operation of the National Airspace System (NAS) in all kinds of weather and seasons.
  • Consolidates multiple FAA weather programs with overlapping capabilities into a single NextGen weather system.

We are looking for an experienced individual to work independently and in a team environment with limited supervision. This individual:

  • Provides expertise in software requirements analysis, design, design reviews, development, software testing, integration, installation, and maintenance of complex computer systems.
  • May need to work with specialists from other disciplines such as hardware, software, logistic support, and testing to produce fully integrated and responsive components and systems.
  • Interprets and analyzes complex information systems data to develop technical documentation, system diagrams, and presentation materials.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Math, and five (5) years of related work experience; will consider a Bachelor’s degree in another technical field that has a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.  OR
    • Master’s Degree in any field of study with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and three (3) years related work experience in a computer science or math field.
  • Permanent Residency (with 3 years residing in the US) or US Citizenship is required for the FAA Public Trust/background investigation.  
  • Experience in performing system testing including issue documentation, troubleshooting, test procedure creation, and test report generation.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and various scripting languages.
  • Possess a technical understanding of systems, databases, networking, and computing environments.
  • Proficient technical writing and oral communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • NAS experience.
  • Interprets and analyzes complex information systems data to develop technical documentation, system diagrams.
  • Experience in software and Operating System (OS) testing.
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of Weather Products.

Essential Job Duties                                                 

  • Provide 2nd Level Engineering support for the NextGen Weather Processor and possibly other AJW-171 Weather Systems.
  • Use project requirements to develop test plans and procedures to test system functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Execute test cases and develop test reports. 
  • Provide clear and concise documentation.
  • Identify and document defects, bugs and inconsistencies during test execution.
  • Participate in system test and key site test activities as a tester.
  • Support system development/testing/integration/deployment activities for NWP.
  • Review and comment on system engineering documents, system requirement documents, and system testing documents.
  • Attend system design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and any other meetings as requested to support program and team.
  • Develop and manage system engineering artifacts, system requirements artifacts, system testing artifacts, and required product baseline artifacts.
  • Able to support software applications in Linux environments.

Work Environment

  • Full-time position with a standard flexible work schedule and occasional non-standard work hours.
