Technical Specialist (Test & Integration)
ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a System Tester to join our team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.
Terminal Precipitation on the Glass (TPoG) is a new system that provides improved precipitation information to Terminal Controllers by:
- Delivering more accurate and consistent location and intensity information,
- Reducing false depictions of precipitation events,
- Improving consistency of precipitation information throughout the National Airspace System (NAS),
- Closing existing coverage gaps, and
- Ensuring the availability of precipitation data.
TPoG will process NextGen Weather Processor (NWP) data precipitation data received via Common Support Services – Weather (CSS-Wx) and will automatically distribute the data to all 146 Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS) sites. TPoG is currently in the design & development phase that requires support for the development of the maintenance concept, testing, maintenance transition planning and requirements definition.
We are looking for an experienced individual to work independently and in a team environment. This individual:
- Provides expertise in real-time design, development, testing and interface of software and/or computer hardware systems.
- Ascertains user requirements, performs system-wide analysis and functional allocations, exhibits an understanding of the requirements and of the responsive approach to the customer, and satisfies the customer requirements.
- Possesses experience in the specific NAS system hardware and/or software, in FAA procedural requirements, and in satisfying the requirements in the areas of functional performance, facilities, electromagnetic interference, regression impact analysis, 'reliability, maintainability, human factors, standardization and other engineering considerations regarding FAA missions and National Airspace System (NAS) systems.
- Knowledgeable of both state-of-the-art and aging technologies that comprise the FAA's NAS and the products from emerging NAS modernization programs.
- Interfaces with specialists from other backgrounds such as hardware, software, logistic support, and testing to produce fully integrated and responsive components and systems.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required with ten (10) years of related experience including at least five (5) years of NAS experience. OR
- Associate’s Degree in a related field will be accepted in lieu of two (2) years of experience. OR
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field will be accepted in lieu of four (4) years of experience.
- Permanent Residency (with 3 years residing in the US) or US Citizenship is required for the FAA Public Trust/background investigation.
- Experience with requirements definition and maintenance planning.
- Experience in performing system testing including issue documentation, troubleshooting, test procedure creation, and test report generation.
- Proficient technical writing and oral communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- NAS experience.
- Interprets and analyzes complex information systems data to develop technical documentation, system diagrams.
- Knowledge of Aviation Weather Products (i.e. precipitation products).
Essential Job Duties
- Provide 2nd Level Engineering support for TPoG.
- Support system development/testing/integration/deployment activities.
- Review and comment on system engineering documents; system requirement documents; system testing documents, system maintenance planning documents.
- Attend system design reviews; technical interchange meetings; any other meetings as requested to support program and team meetings.
- Possess a technical understanding of systems; databases; networking; computing environments; and virtualization.
- Develop and manage system engineering artifacts; system requirements artifacts; system testing artifacts; required product baseline artifacts.
- Participate in system test and key site test activities as a tester.
Work Environment
