Air Traffic Control Specialist

ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking an Air Traffic Control Specialist to join our team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. 

 

Operational and Supportability Implementation System (OASIS II) is a system in the National Airspace System (NAS) which processes and displays weather products, tracks flight service functional daily activities and time on position, provides flight planning (departure, destination, route information), regulatory information (flight path restrictions, air traffic control system status, airport status information and operational Notices to Airmen), and OASIS equipment status information. OASIS II consists of storage and processing equipment in the Anchorage Air Route Traffic Control Center (ZAN) and workstations at the 17 Flight Service Stations (FSS) located throughout Alaska. OASIS II is used strictly by FAA Flight Service Specialists in Alaska to provide weather briefing and flight planning services to general aviation pilots.

We are looking for an experienced individual to work independently and in a team environment. This individual should have experience in:

  • Applying operational technical knowledge in any of the following areas: Automated Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, ATC communication systems, air navigation systems, automated data transfer and display equipment, electronic data processing systems, human factors pertaining to ATC facilities. AND
  • Developing test plans, test procedures, test reports, and scenarios used during new functionality testing, problem recreation testing, Interfacility/intrafacility testing, requirements verification testing, system regression testing, Operational Evaluation (OE) or key site testing. Experience in providing support in pre-test and post-test out briefs.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education level and a minimum of twenty-five (25) years of NAS related experience is required (as specified in the Description), with a minimum of twenty (20) of those years as a Certified Professional Air Traffic Controller (CPC) in a civilian or military En Route, Oceanic or Terminal Air Traffic Control facility.
  • Permanent Residency (with 3 years residing in the US) or US Citizenship is required for the FAA Public Trust/background investigation.  
  • Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Experience with the OASIS system and the services provided by flight service stations.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Aviation Weather Products (i.e. precipitation products).
  • Knowledge of system testing.

Essential Job Duties                                                 

  • Provide 2nd Level Engineering support for OASIS.
  • Support system testing/integration/deployment activities for OASIS systems.
  • Review and comment on system engineering documents, system requirement documents, system testing documents, and system training material.
  • Attend technical interchange meetings and any other meetings as requested to support program and team.

Work Environment

  • Part-time position, 20 hours per week, with a standard work hours.
  • Cubicle environment.
