ASRC Federal AFSS is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems. We are seeking a Digital Librarian / Project Support Specialist to provide full-time in office support to a NASA contract in Greenbelt, MD.

 

Responsibilities:

 

The Digital Librarian will manage the Exploration and Space Communication (ESC) Code 450 digital library system, ensure seamless access to digital content, curate online resources, and assist users in navigating the SharePoint and associated online content/ collections.

  • Manage Digital Collections: Oversee the acquisition, cataloging, and management of digital materials, including e-books, articles, databases, and multimedia resources.
  • Permission Management: Manage and maintain user permissions for documented access, ensuring that appropriate security controls are in place and users can access the correct information in a timely manner.
  • Metadata Management: Ensure all digital assets are properly tagged with appropriate metadata, adhering to cataloging standards like MARC, Dublin Core, or other relevant schemas.
  • Digital Archive Management: Implement and maintain digital archiving practices, including file organization, preservation, and digital repository management.
  • User Assistance: Provide reference services and NASA personnel in accessing and utilizing digital resources effectively. Document SOP on how to access information and also capture overall file information structure where applicable.
  • Workflows: Works with customer to gather SharePoint requirements and work with the business solutions team to implement the solutions.
  • Training and Support: Offer training for staff and patrons on using digital platforms, research tools, and other library-related technologies. Communicate with employees regarding trainings available.
  • Communications and Navigation Learning Center: Work with the Communications and Navigation Learning Center personnel to capture and store all related materials and information.
  • Digital Rights Management (DRM): Ensure that all digital materials comply with licensing and copyright regulations and implement appropriate DRM strategies where applicable.
  • Collection Development: Curate and recommend new digital resources, services, and technologies that enhance the library’s offerings (Such as lunch and learns, online trainings, digital resources, etc.)
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Track usage statistics and analyze digital library services to improve user experience and optimize resource allocation.
  • Collaboration: Work with departments or partners to integrate the digital library with other systems, services, or initiatives within the organization.
  • Quarterly Reports: Provide detailed reports on the usage and performance of digital resources, including user engagement and system status.
  • Updated Digital Catalog: Maintain and update the digital catalog on a regular basis, ensuring that new resources are added, and outdated materials are removed or archived appropriately.
  • Training Materials: Create user guides, tutorials, and other educational materials for patrons and staff to facilitate the use of digital library services.
  • System Optimization: Work with the business solutions team to periodically review and improve digital library systems, ensuring functionality, accessibility, and security are up to date.

Project Support: Provide front office project support to the Laser-Enhanced Mission Communication Navigation and Operational Services project office (LEMNOS) code 456 and Exploration and Space Communications Division office (code 450). Office management skills are required to fulfill the demands of a fast-paced dynamic office environment as well as a team player for back up support when required.

LEMNOS (Task 025)

  • Coordinate multiple weekly staff and monthly meetings.
  • Compile monthly presentations and coordinate meetings for LEMNOS from division to Headquarters level.
  • Support all project related reviews and presentations, including chart preparation, meeting coordination, scheduling, room coordination, AV support, logistics prep and day of support.
  • Documentation and tracking of property including hardware, devices, and equipment via NASA’s Equipment System.
  • Order new and refresh old computers, cellphones, desk phones, tablets, software, etc. through Enterprise Service Desk and De-subscribe equipment as needed.
  • Compile/edit LEMNOS weekly report for project management to send to division/directorate/center management.
  • Maintain LEMNOS EUSO invoice list, coordinating equipment transfers to and from cost centers.
  • Organize/Maintain conference room N012 calendar and LEMNOS shared calendars.

ESC (Task 077)

  • In person division office support one day per week.
  • Conference room IT and AV support for division.
  • Management and upkeep of Ten Owl Labs meeting collaboration devices and resource calendar for device check-out.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience.
