Environmental Manager
Our CLOIS contract located at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station is hiring an Environmental Health & Safety Manager.
Job Summary:
- Provide shop support and environmental management of the Regional Wastewater and Trident Marine Treatment Plants.
- Coordinate, manage and maintain above ground storage tank and containment site inspection records, regulated tank binders and corrective maintenance actions records.
- Maintain an all-inclusive database.
- Coordinate all tank related activities conforming to UFC 3-460-03, STI SP001, 031, API 653, 570. Initiate, review and or coordinate installation requests or removal from service requests through the SLD 45 environmental managers and provide courtesy pre-inspections before state or county regulatory inspections.
- Manage and maintain Spill Prevention Counter measures and Control (SPCC), inventories, site binders, rain drain logs for AST’s, Cape transformers and drum storage areas holding 55 gallons or greater of hydrocarbon-based commodities or wastes.
- Ensure assigned CLOIS facilities managing flammable storage lockers, waste sites; field vehicles and mobile generators and searchlights, are equipped with tailored spill kits and portable secondary containment units when deployed.
- Maintains the Environmental Management System (EMS) database, conducts quarterly field site inspections and maintains inventory, notifies the Engineering Manager when trending or non-compliance issues surface, provides alternative economically sound and effective measures and solutions to mitigate contract risk.
- Uploads, manages, maintains, and documents Management Action Plans (MAPS) provide justification for project funding, corrective actions and finding closeout to the Management Internal Control Toolset (MICT) web site as required.
- Acts as the focal point to all CLOIS shop entities for work center or process issue relational to the EMS.
- Recommend NEPA actions for incoming construction, repair and sustainment projects and work orders affecting buildings, land and infrastructure at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
- For projects, generates, and submits AF Form 813’s complementing SLD 45 Environmental Impact Studies (EIS’s).
- Conducts periodic site visits to ensure shop elements are complying with Best Management Practices (BMP’s) about NPDES, Stormwater.
- Work proactively with the environmental support contract to identify/ map Pollution Prevention (P2), strategies, which result in source reduction, waste minimization, duplication of effort and excessive hazardous material.
- Leads efforts within CLOIS to identify and implement opportunities to divert products such as lead acid batteries, plastics, wooden pallets, paper products and electronics from the solid waste stream.
- Compile statistical analysis and generate reports as required to meet Air Force Data Deliverables suspense’s.
- Manage and maintain records for contract generated construction and demolition, street sweepings, other categorical wastes and recyclable commodities.
- Conducts field accumulation site inspections, maintains diversion records, disposal records and cost data for contract and quarterly metrics reporting.
- Ensure all operational requirements; reports and training are appropriately addressed.
- Coordinate preparations, activities, and interaction with Federal, State, local or Air Force regulators during inspections.
- Follow requirements as defined in RCRA Section 6002 and Executive Order 13423.
- Coordinate and lead efforts with CLOIS Logistics, engineering design and purchasing elements, to ensure alignment with EPA comprehensive guidelines mandating specific percentages of recycled-content, bio-based alternatives, sustainable and renewable resourcing products, and materials are given purchasing priority.
- Compile statistical analysis and generate reports as required to meet Air Force Data Deliverables suspense’s.
Educational/Training Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or related engineering field plus five to seven years of relevant field experience in a multi-discipline industrial or military environment. Equivalent education/experience is applicable.
- Required working knowledge of Federal, State, local and Air Force/Space Force environmental regulations and policy related to the CLOIS contract, specifically, air emissions, water quality, waste-water processing and treatment, hazardous material and waste protocols, storage tank and containment programs, NEPA, recycling policies and emergency cleanup of hazardous material spills.
- Must have clear written and oral communication skills. Duties and Responsibilities: Act as environmental air emissions manager, asbestos manager, hazardous material and waste control process manager and spill response manager for CLOIS requirements.
- Must have previous supervisory experience, supervisory and leadership training required.
