CBA10060 - Food Service Worker

ASRC Federal Field Services, a Subsidiary of ASRC Federal Holding Company, is currently seeking a Food Service Worker at the Plum Island Animal Disease Research Center, located on Plum Island, NY. (1.5 nautical miles off North Fork of Long Island & 6 nautical miles off coast of Old Saybrook, CT).  Marine transportation furnished by Government provided ferry.

Summary:
Provide support to cafeteria operations at a research facility. Work as team member and/or independently in a cafeteria kitchen. Responsible for the operation of a small cafeteria. Perform tasks concerned with preparation and serving of food and beverages. Set up and break down food counter. Assists in preparation of hot and cold meals, salads, soups and desserts for cafeteria take out use

Roles/Responsibilities:
►    Clean work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware. 
►    Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.     
►    Prepare a variety of foods according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures. 
►    Package take-out foods or serve food to customers. 
►    Portion and wrap the food or place it directly on plates for service to patrons. 
►    Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed and provide cooks with needed items. 
►    Wash, peel and/or cut various foods to prepare for cooking or serving.
►    Operate cafeteria equipment such as, dishwasher, meat slicer, small kitchen appliances, etc.

Requirements:
►    HS/GED Diploma with some related experience.  2 years’ experience assisting with cafeteria operations. Ability to obtain & maintain security clearances. Physical examination and must undergo a physical examination and vaccinations

As a condition for employment, all personnel entering the BSL-3 biocontainment facilities at Plum Island shall not be in contact with specific susceptible animals and their premises off Plum Island for a period of five (5) days after leaving biocontainment. Currently, restricted species are cattle, sheep, goats, deer, other ruminants, and swine. Contact with horses, birds (agricultural and pet birds) and rabbits are normally permitted, but restrictions may be placed on staff working with or near contagious agents affecting these species. Restricted livestock or other restricted animals may not be housed on the premises where the employee lives and where the quarantine cannot be enforced.
