Network Engineer Intern - onsite San Antonio, TX
ASRC Federal’s Summer Technology Readiness Intern Development Experience (STRIDE) offers undergraduate college students the chance to apply their technological interests and knowledge to exciting real-world missions.
We are seeking a Network Engineer intern to support our government customer program in San Antonio, TX focusing on network engineering and infrastructure. This is role is a temporary, on-site position.
Summary: The intern will gain hands-on experience using a variety of technologies in support of our government customers’ missions.
Work location: Onsite San Antonio, TX (3 days onsite in office). Local candidates preferred. Relocation assistance, housing, or stipends are not provided.
Background investigation: Must be a US Citizen with ability to successfully complete a government issued background check. (must have lived continuously in the continental United States for the past three years)
Program dates: 10-week summer internship, June 2 – August 8, 2025
Hours: 32 hours per week
Education:
- Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Network Security, or other relevant field of study
- Must be a junior or senior in college at the time of application submittal.
Key role:
- Work with our team to develop, update, and maintain networks that allow people and systems to effectively communicate in a cost-effective manner.
Basic Qualifications:
- Understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
- Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
- Ability to review, plan, configure, patch, evaluate, monitor, and troubleshoot the network infrastructure.
- Ability to support daily operations and service requests and recommend improvements to the network.
- Proficient in Microsoft office tools such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- “Can do” positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic network router, switching and firewall knowledge.
- Understanding of data center, voice, wireless and SD-WAN technologies are desired.
- Experience working in a Cloud environment.
Interns will work closely with dedicated mentors and managers, fostering meaningful connections within our company while exploring a range of technology disciplines. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to contribute to research projects developed by our tech experts. While extensive work experience is not required, a commitment to learning and a genuine passion for emerging technological advancements are essential.
