Ascent Aerospace – Inspiring the next generation of flight!

Summary of Position

Support one or more engineers in a variety of tasks related to the design and development of machine tools, jigs, fixtures and automated equipment for our aerospace customers.

Essential Functions

  • Create or modify 3D CAD tool models that meet the Fit, Form and Functional requirements specified by the customer while adhering to customer and Ascent modeling & drafting standards.
  • Collaborate across multiple departments/levels in the development of quality design applications.
  • Work within project established timelines, budgets and schedules according to scope of work.
  • Support the team as necessary to achieve the set targets
  • To design, develop and improve new and existing processes. To understand the effects of process variables on the engineering performance of components; optimizing process capabilities, costs and material flow and commissioning and layout of plant and equipment
  • Begin developing customer relations within customer engineering groups.
  • Assist cross-functioning teams in project specific engineering activities, design, process, etc.
  • Assist with projects from cost analysis to completion, and provide timely updates on project status.

 

Required Skills, Education & Experience

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered.  Typical qualifications would be:

  • Pursuing a Degree in an Engineering related field.
  • Some exposure with common product manufacturing processes.
  • Some experience with 3D CAD modeling software and data management tools.
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross functional teams.

  • Ability to provide effective feedback to management on a regular basis, raising issues and problems as necessary, establishing an appropriate priority.

  • While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles.
  • Typically sits for extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • May access and work in the manufacturing plant.
  • The employee may be exposed to vibration.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • May be required to work weekends to meet department and business demands.
  • Work with safe manufacturing processes and understanding that eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area.
  • Knows that safety shoes are recommended in the manufacturing area.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 35 pounds, occasionally lift and move objects up to 50lbs.
