Used Car Sales Manager
Reports To: General Sales Manager
Position Summary: Used Car Sales Manager will assume responsibility for appraising, purchasing, reconditioning, displaying, and merchandising the used vehicle inventory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strives to contribute to the store’s efforts to deliver an exceptional guest experience to our guests by making it a top priority to help other team members who are serving out guests (e.g., by being highly responsive to those team members’ requests for information or assistance that will help them serve our guests). Never think “that’s not in my job description”. Wowing our guests is the job of EVERY team member, even those who don’t interact directly with guests!
- When interacting with guests, seeks to deliver exceptional guest experiences by going above-and-beyond. When not interacting with guests, gives priority to helping other team members deliver exceptional guest experiences (e.g., by being highly responsive to their requests for information or assistance that will help them serve our guests).
- Serves as a role model/servant leader and ensures that the core values of the company are encompassed in behavior at all times.

- Prepares and administers an annual operating forecast and budget for the used-vehicle sales department.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect used-vehicle sales.
- Maintains vehicle inventory. Monitors customer’s likes and dislikes, lost sales, and dealership sales history and conducts local market analyses to determine which vehicles to stock.
- Establishes and enforces product-knowledge standards.
- Ensures that salespeople are informed of all new inventory and current advertising efforts, including special sales.
- Enforces a sixty (60) day turn policy.
- Appraises all incoming used vehicles.
- Ensures that cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning is performed within the dealership's cost and time standards.
- Plans and controls the display of used vehicles.
- Establishes and controls wholesaling activities.
- Assists in the development of advertising campaigns and other promotions.
- Approves all paperwork from auctions and provides proper documentation to the office for purchases.
- Notifies the used vehicle department manager of anticipated delivery of purchases.
- Develops and maintains outside sources (wholesalers and retailers) for both buying and selling units.
- Attends managers meetings.
- Reports on time to work and follows the schedule provided for you. Calls supervisor if he/she cannot be to work on time.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
