Roadside/Mobile Tech

Reports To:  Service Manager

Position Summary: 

The primary purpose of the Roadside/Mobile Technician is to ensure an extraordinary client experience while creating client advocates. The Roadside Technician will ensure client loyalty and satisfaction by providing clients with convenient and timely responses to requests for roadside assistance.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strives to contribute to the store’s efforts to deliver an exceptional guest experience to our guests by making it a top priority to help other team members who are serving out guests (e.g., by being highly responsive to those team members’ requests for information or assistance that will help them serve our guests). Never think “that’s not in my job description”. Wowing our guests is the job of EVERY Team Member, even those who don’t interact directly with guests!
  • Treats all co-workers, customers, and vendors professionally and with respect.

  • Adheres to Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dealership dress code.
  • Performs light service on client vehicle as dispatched.
  • Adheres to guidelines as outlined by Manufacture Service Center regarding replacing and repairing items covered by vehicle warranty.
  • Responds to all requests in timely and professional manner as dispatched by call center.
  • Communicates with the call center department through dispatch radio and telephone to ensure clients are taken care of in a timely manner.
  • Monitors local traffic situations to expedite response time for clients.
  • Monitors the mileage of roadside vehicles.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of roadside vehicles and ensures they are in neat and clean condition.
  • Maintains strict adherence to dealership policy on client vehicle care and operation.
  • Assists with preparation and filing of service documents.
  • Handle basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with fuel, checking oil, keeping it clean, and making sure required inspections are performed and documented as assigned.
  • Manage service truck parts inventory.
  • Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and be available for an open work schedule.
  • Has beginning knowledge of diagnosis, removal and replacement of injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.
  • Perform all necessary diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and make adjustments.
  • Advise customer and/or service writer of any repairs or services which should be performed within the next 3 months.
  • Participate in training and utilize that training in the course of work.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
