Lead Material Handler

The Lead Material Handler will be responsible for ensuring efficient movement, storage, and distribution of materials. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong organization and leadership skills to oversee a team of material handlers and ensure smooth warehouse operations.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of material handlers, providing guidance and training
  • Coordinate daily activities and assign tasks
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and ensure accuracy
  • Conduct regular stock checks
  • Oversee the operation of material handling equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed to improve warehouse efficiency
  • Promote a safe work environment

 

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid certification for operating a standup forklift or successfully complete company provided training with the designated timeframe.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a material handling role with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials up to 50lbs and stand/walk for extended periods of time
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and reporting

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Good problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
